So I had a lot of fun against a soft comp nid list this holiday break. My list composed of grey knights, featuring my favorite unit in the game, the much maligned Grey Knight paladins (dun dun DUN) were the prominent portion of my 1850 list.

What I took looked like this

Grand Master: Rad and broke grenades (although every time I rolled to use them I rolled a one) with orbital strike relay (found this to be utterly useless and decided to remove from list in future)

Coteaz

10 Paladins with psycannons (4) Standard, Psybolt ammo, and apothecary Polymorphine assassin (fell in love with this unit, it will feature in every list I can jam her into)

2x 4 carapace/ storm bolter/ chainsword acolytes 5 Power armor laspistol/chainsword acolytes, 2 had flamers also

Stormraven w assault cannon, heavy bolter, hurricane sponsons and psybolt ammo.

Dread Knight with flamer and psilencer.

I proxied the assassin, and acolyltes (although it was wysiwyg CSM marines and SM scouts, with a plasma pistol sorc as the assassin)

It was a fun game but the main reason I bring this up was to talk about fun codex counts as armies. As I was playing the game, I realized one thing... that Grey Knights codex, ironically, makes an incredible counts-as Chaos codex. You have High sorcerors (librarians) Battle Sorcerers/ War Wizards (brother captains and grand masters) Battle Covens/ High conclaves (Terminators/ paladins) etc etc... You can even proxy in Daemon Princes for dread Knights and get the feeling of a hard to kill engine of destruction. Chaos armies that legally feature variant land raiders, razorbacks, and storm ravens? YES PLZ!!! And even your cultist models have a place as the incredibly flexible acolyte. Your power armored chaos can function as anything from the purifiers (defilers?) to power armored acolytes and the benefits go on. Bring your ravening horde of cultists lead by a charismatic leader wielding a bamf daemon weapon backed up by terminator heroes of sorcerous might and their Battle Wizard master. Bring forth the power of the warp as your cult leader unleashes the willingly (and unwillingly) possessed, bound and directed at your enemy. Never underestimate the value of activating your sleeping agents for key shots on the battle field, using their skills augmented by unholy alliances to place a precise and devastating shot, infiltrate any enemy force until the opportune moment, become a berserk machine of mayhem, or even turn the opponents magic against them. The options are endless if your imagination is fertile!!! XD

Ok so my crappy fan fluff aside, the idea really took me and I will soon begin to convert my grey knights army into the sorcerous coven of tzeentch worshiping warriors; The Laeodicean (Lay-oh-day-seen) Brotherhood.

I will be using a mildly converted Dark Vengence Chaos Lord model for a coteaz counts as (requiring a small amount of conversion to create a daemonic familiar to represent his cyber bird) cultists as acolytes for cheap scoring models and modifying the grey knight terminators to have more of a sorcerous feel to them, adding cloaks, hoods, and various spikey bits to produce that sinister feel I am looking for. These are just a few of the ideas I have (another being, to represent a Dread Knight with teleporter and sword, throwing a blood thirster on the oval base with some foam work to fill in extra space)

So now that I have shared MY idea of a fun way to run counts as armies from other codexes, what counts as ideas do YOU guys and gals have that you are excited about for one reason or another?

I wanted to try the Jokero but was not about to fork over the cash for as many as I waned to use. So I decided to convert/counts as....
1st idea was tobuy a barel of monkeys and put them on bases. Decided against them because I could hear the screams of the hardcore players over something so silly.
2nd idea was to get a bunch of zoo animal bags from the dollar store and pull the gorillas out and pop them on bases. heck, twould be prer-painted. The machines that paint them often screw up an they just didn't fit my view of them (not that the barrel o monkeys did but at least they woulda had cool value for laughs).
3rd idea was what I ut into use. I had a buch of those huge servoskull counter holders that cam in the dice/tin sets. I put them on bases and painted them up. I see my jokero as being more spider mokey size and figured that if they could design a las cannon to be fired from a cracker jack ring, he least they could do was design cool lil servo skull air conditioned Cadillac's to ride about in. (they aren't confused with any real servo skulls I may eventually use because those I make out of spare heads on flying bases so they look like funny lil heads instead of skulls.)

I am currently starting work on an army that uses the Deathwing rules but with the Space Hulk Blood Angels Terminators as the base units, with all additional Terminators (likely the Dark Vengeance ones) and the Dread and a pair of Land Raiders are modelled in BA iconography. It's my "counts-as" Blood Angels 1st Company. My Belial is Sergeant Lorenzo, as if Captain Rafael is otherwise engaged so he is acting commander of the brothers present.

I wanted to do a corrupted Tau drone army that counted as nids.

Devil fish as a tervigon (DOW harbinger)
Different types of drones as gaunts.

And other things. would be simple and fer fun

The Blood Angel 1st company makes a lot of sense.
the corrupted tau army sounds like a coo project. Would be interesting to see how you do up some of the units while keeping the tau model base going. Gotta say that for a flyrant, would be REALLY cool to see a star wars c2po converted with wings

I think DUST has like nazi gorillas with laser cannons on their shoulders... seems pretty fething Jokero to me

I've got a crapload of Ork boyz and don't actually use that many in my Ork armies, so I've been thinking of having them worship Khorne and be counts-as Bloodletters in my Daemons army (and Ork+Daemon allies)

the shop owner where I usually play loves the gorillas from dust. I like the inage and think huge honking guys like that would look cool (more than cool, absolutely bad arse). What stops me is the price and the stats. As cool as they are, the look doesn't match the stats. Wish they did.
