Hey guys,

I saw soemwhere that they have released new rules for the Wraith Seer this year and that he could be used (with consent of course) in a normal game. I just struggle to find in what book he is featured? Don't have cash enough to buy all the FW books ^^
Seems like a cool unit to use and I like the model.

Who knows? It's Forge World. The rules are probably hidden in a secret pdf on their website, or in a book they've only printed in seventeen copies and kept a total secret from the mythical customers.

I think it might be in Doom of Mymeara, but I thought I'd seen a 6th edition update somewhere, but now I cannot find it.

He's in the doom of mymeara and imperial amour apocalypse.

If you've got good eyes, then some of his rules are in one of the pics for IAA

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Armour_Books/IMPERIAL_ARMOUR_APOCALYPSE.html

In that book, it states he gets a wraithcannon and not a d-cannon though.
I queried this with forgeworld and got an email saying to use the d-cannon rules and they are going to faq it at some point.

His powers got better too - they removed the 12" restriction for his wraith fnp so now iirc it's any wraithguard/blade/lord unit you can see (depending if blessings need los)

The latest rules for the Wraithseer can be found in the new Imperial Armour Apocalypse Volume.

Those are Apocalypse rules.
40k standard rules are in the mentioned Doom of Mymeara book. Not sure if FW released something newer though.

@Kroothawk
No, that is incorrect. The IA Apoc one is 40K stamp approved. It is not an Apoc only unit.

OP the previous posters are correct the new (2013) IA Apoc.

Yeah, its in the new forgworld apoc book.

Just a note: my buddy who plays eldar was going to get one, but he as a very sporting chap...feels it is a bit too good for the points, and has since declined to get one for normal 40k games.

(kind of like I won't buy the tau 107 fw suit, until they tone it down).

Now, my group is good on sportsmanship, and we try not to run cheesy units or lists (unless we do a no holds barred apoc game, then we bring out all the broken stuff!!!!), but you might want to check him out rules wise....while I am not an eldar player, I am somewhat familiar with him...and to me he looks pretty strong....but when two of my eldar player friends say the would consider him cheesy, I respect their opinion.

You should have your friend try proxying him. He is priced pretty fairly actually.

The R'Vana is a totally different level and is experimental anyways.

Heh...

If you have the book, compare the malentrhope to the wraithseer....you will wonder if some of the game designers even play the game.

(one of my friends plays both tyranids and eldar....he jumped for joy for the wraithseer and cried at the malenthrope).

Dark Eldar and Nidz are the two armies which tend to get a poor showing from FW. DE because they are terrible to sculpt (I hear the spikes killed the sculptor, ). Though there is no telling how the Nidz dex will change things.

The reason the wraithseer is a fair price is the weakness of the wraith-lords and -guard. (notice his best abilities don't help knights). The best army to take advantage of him is 3+ wraithguard units on foot, a wraith fighter or two, and 3 wraithlords...which has no wraithknights, serpents, seer council, etc.

Also didn't help Nidz that their 5th edition codex absorbed most of their FW unique models that are not Apoc.

Ye I want to look at it myself as well. If he's slightly too strong i might still run him since it fits my wraith list so well and I have friends who run baracudas for tau and whatever else for necrons aso that are all a bit over the top but not completly broken. Like that new battlesuit
If he seems broken I won't get him since the idea is to have fun.

He's essentially a big wraithlord - he's not that great.
I like having the d-cannon on him but at 225pts for a 4 wound T8 3+/5++ - If your mates can take down a wraithlord, they'll take him down too. And they should be bringing things to deal with T8 anyway.
I've used him a fair few times and not had any complaints or people crying cheese. It's not like the complaints I've had when I run nightwings or a full wraithwall list.

Helps to understand what the volume actually contains. The Apocalypse books not only contain bits for Apocalypse, but also end up as a unit repository for units from the more specific IA campaign books and where they are updated if they need to be fixed. The Wraithseer is still a 40k usable unit and its most current rules are in the new Apocalypse books. Of course as previously posted it does list the wrong main weapon...
