The second one is a pretty standard Wraithwing, which should be pretty effective against most lists. I'd consider dropping a Barge and 5 Warriors from the first squad to fit another DLord.

That's an interesting idea. Two D Lords would be v beat sticky. PE and all that. But that sort of makes me prefer the first list, due to it having a marginally more unique flavour.

Killed Death squad with a Reclusiarch in one turns shooting and then was sitting on an objective scoring last night with that unit. It is more situational I suppose, but I like the combo of it with the Doom Scythe against Deathstar units....

The second list similar to my tournament list. I wouldn't field the first one since special HQ's have a bad taste.

There's no logic behind it. Some players (like me) stay away from named characters if possible.

Okay. Understood. I'd use a kitbashed Overlord of my own with Trazyn's rules to make him more unique.

Your second list is definitely stronger as its well established, having been tested in multiple tournaments, however, I don't think you should give up on using Trazyn if you like the rules/model. He's someone that you need to build your list around to get the most out of him. Right now in the first list he is just kind of thrown in there and it almost makes no sense to use him when with a few changes you can make the second list which is obviously superior.

The place where Trayzn shines is making something that's super expensive, like a Lychguard or Disco Inferno Royal Court scoring. This is also in addition to being an HQ that makes it especially hard to claim slay the Warlord (there is a reason he is called Trollyn after all). I think that's the route you would have to go to make him work.

I'd go with list #2 but I'd drop two warriors and give the DLord a resorb. Watching him get back up on 4+ is priceless!

That's exactly what I am doing with him. I'm using him to make an uber killy squad (the Deathmarks with two despair teks give two ap1, wounding on a 2+ flamers) into a scoring unit. It's an expensive but effective unit (unless it is intercepted). It took out ten man Death Company with Reclusiarch recently just with the two veils. And then stood by the nearest objective in order to score with it. But they are one hit... They are also pretty good against a lot of deathstar lists if they are in the right formations.

If that isn't obviously what is going on with the list, that's a good thing.

Oh and the Doom Scythe is partly there in order to act as the obvious (more resilient) target for interceptor - hoping the death marks and it come in together.
