Well this is gonna be pretty hard to balance properly. This is going to have some toned down Apocalypse formation psychic powers.
Army: Pre Heresy Thousand Sons legion
Unit Formation: 4 Scarab Occult, 1 Scarab Occult Commander
Cost: 280 points
Scarab Occult
WS:5/ BS:5/ S:4/ T:4/ W:1/ I:4/ A:1/ LD: 10/ SV: 2+/ 4+
Special Rules: Psychic Brotherhood, Psychic Mastery 1 (each model), Chosen of Magnus
Wargear: Cataphractii Terminator Armor, Force Weapon, Storm Bolter
Scarab Occult Commander
WS:5/ BS:5/ S:4/ T:4/ W:2/ I:4/ A:2/ LD:10/ SV: 2+/ 4+
Special Rules: Psychic Brotherhood, Psychic Mastery 2, Chosen of Magnus
Wargear: Cataphractii Terminator Armor. Force Weapon, Reaper Autocannon
Psychic Brotherhood: This squad has unique powers when at more than 3 models. For the use of these unique powers add their masteries together.
Chosen of Magnus: All models with this rule reroll failed psychic tests, and possess a 4+ DTW.
Unique Powers
-Psychic Force Field: Type:?/ Cost:6/ A half sphere of raw psychic energy is created around the Scarab Occult with a diameter of 7 inches, protecting them from all harm. This force field is treated as armor 12 with 4 HP. The force field absorbs all attacks against the squad in the bubble until it is destroyed. The force field does not suffer explosions or immobilized results. The Scarab Occult may still shoot from inside the bubble at a BS reduced by 1.
-Psychic Bombardment: Type: Witchfire/ Cost:6/ Target: 1 enemy unit within 36 inches/ S:9, AP:2, 5 inch blast.
-Blessing of Fire: Type: Blessing/ Cost:4/ Target: Scarab Occult unit using the power/ Scarab Occult gain +1S, AP, and the Conflagrate rule with their shooting (guns)/ Duration: 1 turn
-Wave of Force: Type: Witchfire/ Cost: 5/ Target 1 unit within 20 inches of the Scarab Occult/ S:5, AP-, Assault 5, Concussive/ The unit hit with this power must take a Toughness Test on 2d3 or be blown back 3d3 inches straight back from the
nearest Scarab Occult.
-Devastation Maelstrom: The Scarab Occult gather all of their power at the moment to unleash massive quantities of earthshattering power. Type: Witchfire/ Cost:12 (can only be cast by a full squad and the Ahriman upgrade)/ Target: 1 enemy unit within 36 inches of the Scarab Occult unit/ S:10, AP:1, 10 inch blast, Psyfire.
Options
-May take up to 5 additional Scarab Occult for 45 points a piece
-1 Scarab Occult in 3 may replace his Storm Bolter with a Reaper Autocannon for 10 points, a Plasma Cannon for 15 points, or a Lascannon for 15 points
-The Scarab Occult Commander may be upgraded to be Ahriman with the following profile for 100 points:
WS:5/ BS:5/ S:4/ T:4/ W:3/ I:5/ A:4/ LD:10/ SV: 2+
Psychic Mastery 3, Chosen of Magnus, Sorceror Lord, Inspiring Presence, Psychic Brotherhood
Wargear: Artificer Armor, MC Inferno Pistol, MC Force Halberd
Sorceror Lord: Ahriman may choose (not roll) 1 of his 3 powers from Divination.
Inspiring Presence: Ahriman makes Scarab Occult models within 6 inches fearless.
Notes:
-The way melee works against the force field is that they surround the 7 inch circle (drawn in the terrain with a erasable utensil) and start hammering it.
-I forget the name of the psychic pets that the Thousand Sons had. What is it?
-Ahriman was always pretty good in cc, and was the ultimate seer in the Thousand Sons.
-No, Scarab Occult do not deal friendly damage against their own force field.
-Wave of Force is primarily meant to repel CC squads closing in on the Scarab Occult.
Did I do good Boss?

Nothing?

Nothing, still?
Any opinions what so ever?
Edit: Changed to meet some of BrotherHaraldus' concerns. Conflgrate on a weapon means that a number of auto hits are inflicted with the weapon's unaltered profile equal to the number of wounds (saved or unsaved). Akin to burning.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." |

Does this 4+ stack with the +1 they get from being psykers?

How does this interact with damage results? Gravguns?

Seems utterly lethal. Forced movement, and 2d6 inches no less? Not to mention that you can toss them into lethal terrain. Maybe 2d3 I'd say. 2d6 could work, it is the bodyguard of a Primarch after all so they should be OP, but you have to tread carefully. You could make it a Toughness test instead, as your courage does not matter if you are blown back or not, but your weight and bulk would realistically do so instead. And which direction are they thrown in? From the closest Occult model? From the center of the Occult squad?

Psychic Mastery 3, Chosen of Magnus, Sorceror Lord, Inspiring Presence, Psychic Brotherhood

40 pts is too cheap considering how much stronger than normal termies they are. 50+ I'd say.
Ahriman could also use a price increase.
Otherwise, I like it.

No the 4+ does not stack with that.
The Same way Grav guns normally react with AV 12. It works normally with damage results except it does not explode. Penetrating hits happen normally. I would of figured that because the only change to damage results I mentioned was exploding this question would not be asked.
Well I figured the direction would be straight back, given it's a shooting (witchfire) power. Lethal? Maybe it could kill 1 or 2(pretty lucky) marines with the hit itself, but that is not a lethal attack.
Bro this monstrosity: WS:6/ BS:2/ S:4/ T:4/ W:2/ I:5/ A:3/ LD:9/ SV: 2+/ 4++ (Hatred(everything), rerolling failed charges, furious charge, 5+ FNP) is 45 points pre heresy.

Yay for thousand sons.
When you look at most all of the fan made rules for thousand sons, it's pretty clear to see that it's not that hard to write good, characterful and fluffy rules for them.
This leads me to believe that in some combination the people at GW lack any interest, love or understanding of how to handle thousand sons! :(.

Thankyou. I've noticed the same thing with GW's treatment of the Thousand Sons.

So, the force is treated as an immobile vehicle and thus suffers additional hull point damage from Immobilised results?
Straight back from which model in the unit? The closest one? It might seem irrelevant, but it can make the difference if you throw Ferrus Manus into Lethal Terrain or not. It is not so much the damage itself that is lethal, it's the movement.
And fair enough about the points, I am not too familiar about pre-heresy points values.

Good points. I had completely forgotten about immobilized results.
I'll also edit the force power.
