I once had a cultist champion slay a marine Sargent, and then roll spawn-hood, the "worst" roll, I contest that this was actually a better result than anything baring demon prince ascension, as he wiped out the entirety of the tac squad over the next two turns allowing the remaining cultists to seize an objective. So I contest that spawnhood might not be the horrifying game-destroying result people think it is in certain situations. (and yes I do feel very differently when my 100 point chaos lord rolls spawn hood, happens more than you would think hence my sig)

Spawn is far from the worst result. Yesterday I rolled 'Hatred' on my Dark Apostle, who already has the Zealot rule... Great.

Basically in the rare occasion that a champion wins a challenge (and isn't just dying to an IC to keep my own IC alive for a turn) Spawn is actually a great result, you lose your stupid weak Champion with his hamstring rule and you get something much better. IMO Daemon Ascension is the among the worst possible results, the characters you've tooled up to win challenges end up losing all their wargear and boons to become a footslogging DP. To continue my example, yesterday the aforementioned Apostle won 3 challenges, in the first 2 he netted 5 boons, the final challenge he lost all of them as well as his sigil, his black mace, his grenades, everything.

Do they lead to an extra possible kp though? Also if memory serves me they form out of cc and have to charge next turn.

Yes he forms out of combat, he doesn't award any points until the spawn/demon is destroyed.

90% of the times I keep my chams naked so spawn is great, just charge back in, I think this will be most peoples consensus.
