As the subject, the book constantly refers to Lords of War choices.

I am wondering if this includes forge world super heavies, gargantuan etc, or only what GW has called LoW.

No worries here. I believe that FW books are integrating the terminology into their releases so with any luck further variety will ensue.

As of now though the book only rules on the ones included.

The new edition of IA2 includes the "Lord of War" designation for superheavy units, and FW have said that they will be releasing a list of "Lord of War" choices in the near future. So right now there isn't much, but it's pretty obvious where things are going to go.

Of course the usual anti-FW whiners will still complain that it isn't "real GW" saying it, so you're limited to just the ones in the Escalation book. For obvious reasons you should just ignore these people.

How much have the data sheets changed? If there's not recosting or getting rid of Str D, then it's pretty straightforward to drop other units into the Lord of War Category.

No changes at all.

What I have noticed is the apocalypse "oh you're chaos? You can use Imperial stuff and call it renegade" is NOT a part of Escalation.

If you want to use a baneblade chassis, your primary detachment has to be IG. If your primary is marines, congrats you get ONLY a thunderhawk.

Are any of the super heavies printed in Damnos or Pandorax legal? If they are then chaos has a few more choices, including Brass Scorpions. I like that you can make some sweet looking conversions out of plastic for those things.

I don't know about officially but I know my local gaming group is going to allow super heavies from the warzone books.

No. By RAW only the specific units in the Escalation book are included. However, most people will probably accept a house rule that you can take any appropriate superheavy unit, in the extremely unlikely event that they decide to play a game with the Escalation rules.

I'm all for people bringing their Super Heavies using the Escalation - Lord of War slot. As I have posted in other places, Sisters of Battle (No surprise) were passed over by this whole thing. I'd have no problem facing a Baneblade variant for them, or something similar.

Basically anything from the Apoc books to me could be used as a Lord of War within reason. I don't expect to see Reavers or Phantoms of course.

In the end, just use your judgment, and make sure your opponent is cool with Lord of War to begin with, and then discuss the options.

Its extremely likely in my area. We already had a couple house rules for allowing a super heavy in to eternal war missions so we could use a baneblade model. We'll probably keep the rule "Not every f-ing time" and use the escalation rules.

On a side note, the bane blade was not that hard to deal with in our games. Moving cheap vehicles in front of it and leaving them there tends to lock it into poor board position and its front firing arc can be rendered essentially useless.
