So recently I bought the Chaos Daemons codex, and what can I say.... It's the first codex in 6th where I've seen a melee army that I like.
Anyway Beastmen are a group of models I've always liked, but I can't stand this edition of fantasy,
I came up with the idea of making a beastmen force for 40k using this codex and using my 2 ed rule book (as well as the web) beastmen do appear and can be common on daemon worlds

Now I have come up with a daemon list that is competitively fun, that uses a lord of change, what would people recommend for my army that has minotaurs with wings (daemon princes) pestigors and converted chaos hounds? Would a greater daemon be around abhuman/ mutant cultists or would I be better using another model?
Also if a beastman was to become a daemon prince, would he still look beastly or more like your average joe daemon prince?

Obviously I need the help of someone with a large beard here lol

I do remember in the Chaos Space Marines codex they mention of group of Goat people serving Slaanesh on a demon world. Wiped out a minor space marine chapter.

My Chaos army is primarily themed around Goatmen in homage to the diablo era goat clans (I just think they're such a cool iconic monster), and doom style cyber deamonry.

Here's some of my conversions, which hopefully will give you some ideas.
Spoiler:

Bloodletters, just a head swap, but works I think.

Some WIP Khone Scalpers (daemonettes), which are Kroot with dark elf weapons and goat heads.

My CSM Juggernaut lord and his spawn bodyguard. These are vampire counts crypt fiends with minotaur heads and ogre weapons. The regular minotaur bodies are nice, but dont really exemplify the 12 inch movement of beasts or cavalry. These guys would also make good bloodcrushers or fiends in a daemon army.

WIP for a centaur which I run as CSM bikers. Made from a chaos knight horse, CSM torso, and goat head greenstuffed together.

WIP Screamer, which is a chaos hound and gargoyle wings.

Some CSM grunts, made from various beastman, chaos warrior, and CSM parts.

And my big boss bloodthirster, converted a few cheapo toys and some chaos bits with a juggernaut head to boot.

...goat-headed Beastmen predate Diablo in Warhammer fiction. We had Goat Beastmen in WHFRP in like 1986, and before then in Warhammer Fantasy Battle. I might hazard to guess that their appearance in Diablo is just an homage to some medieval depictions of Satan, or perhaps a nod to Warhammer.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Read the rule book, in the abhuman section it mentions the beast people have been granted citizenship within the imperium. I find that really cool!

Well, yeah of course.
Greek satyrs and fauns, and medieval iconography of sheep being good and goats being evil and all that jazz and satanic symbolism yadda yadda. I didn't claim that Diablo did it first, I just had a fondness of them in that game as a kid. I just like the monsters in diablo 1 and 2 as cool representations of western demons and devils. Ditto for Doom.
This isn't a "40k ripped off starcraft!" scenario here, I'm allowed to like diablo as a form of inspiration.

I've been using converted Skaven as cultists for my goats (they seem properly miniony and cowardly) but things like ungors would make pretty awesome cultists as well.

Could you just call them bloodletters? They are about the same size and you can equip them with 2 handed melee weapons.

GW used to make a few Imperial guard beastmen models. I think I remember seeing 2 different ones.

I have also seen players use them as conversions for penal legion.

I've heard of players making "renegade" guard using beastment and skaven as the basis.

I myself made a necromunda gang out of them.

It would be cool to see them as an addition to the Chaos Demon book or have them in the IG book like ratlings and Ogryns used to be.

Love the beastmen headswap on the bloodletters. Its a simple and effective conversion and I think its awesome.

For those wondering, my bloodthirster started life as this fellow, for abour 15$ from amazon (just search for 'Papo toys'). There's a few other figures that would make for some pretty baller greater daemon converstions (I like the crocodile guy)
The wings I hacked off a dragon toy, also from Papo.

Also, my beard is tiny and prickly, but only because I forgot to shave.

One of the guys in that range is a pirate totiouse (spelt wrong maybe but while at work spell checking does not happen) and it cracks me up.

In the older fluff there were loyalist Imperial Guard regiments of beastmen. Theres an old Rogue Trader pics somewhere that has a company of IG doing a unit photo and it has humans, squats, and beastmen all posing for it.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Quite a few of those Papo toys look like they could be good bases for larger daemonic models...At least the mutant ones. I would love to find out who did the "Octopus Mutant Pirate" and just ask them why.

That's what I do. They fit in nicely. In old Rogue Trader and 2nd edition days there were units of beastmen Imperial Guard. They were pretty good in melee and more than held their own against Orks.

Absoltely awesome conversions. You've given me an idea on how to use some of my 40-50 bloodletters I have aquired to make some kickin' chaos spawn to escort my Juggerlord in to battle.

Great tip about Papo toys. I can definitely see the goat man tuning in to a really cool bloodthirster.
