Let’s quit suggesting all the Tournament Organizers get together to pound out an established list of banned this and that.
So far Game Workshops has taken a hands off approach to what Tournament Organizers do....
That does not have to stay that way. I know they have not in the past but that does not mean they will not now or in the future. The word of the day is change.
I am sure at the point that the banning of this or the 0-1 of that affects Game Workshops bottom line they will crank out those lawyers on the Tournament Organizers.
There is a difference between some guys in a hobby shop house ruling something and a group of Tournament Organizers who charge money to offer seats in a game that they do not own and have decided to modify the use of in such a way to decrease sales of that same companies products in that game... Is there any doubt that it would affect their bottom line?
It's not just about Game Workshop protecting their IP. It is also about sales, and they do care about sales of their models, ask Chapter House.
How many Tournament Organizers want to go thru that?
If I hold a sign out saying some fast food chains burgers are terrible and do it is such a fashion to hurt their sales I would get sued...
Does anyone honestly think Game Workshops will not do the same to folks who are in a business using their products in a manner to hurt their sales?
Just because they have not in the past does not mean they will not in the future and this will affect their bottom line more than anything else has in the past with all these new releases in such a short time.
The line in the books are for players. I suspect the rules will be legally different in a courtroom for organizers who collect cash, even if they only make enough to break even or less.
People should not be a hurry to convince the Tournament Organizers to get together and establish a set of rules that are counter to what Game Workshops published...It could put them at risk. By the way, the rules are different in Europe to head that off.
Things change... It is easy for us to blow it off, maybe not so much for a Tournament Organizer…

If I was vain I would list stuff to make me sound good here. I decline. It's just a game after all.
House Rule -A common use of the term is to signify a deviation of game play from the official rules.
Do you allow Forgeworld 40k approved models and armies? |

Honestly don't see how this is any of GWs problem considering its not a GW supported tournament. and if they REALLY want to piss off a big chuck of there player base by screwing over the few big tournament scene we have then let them.

Yes, GW might unleash their secret deadly assasination ninja Skaven squad to hunt down all these wayward TOs thinking about comp.
Seriously?

GW is not going to sue TOs or Tourneys for running COMPed events. They can't.
This thread is absurd. Fear of GW legal threat is not a valid reason to defend the status Quo and let a thriving indy tourney circuit go into the poopbowl due to terribly balanced, unreasonable and uncompetitive rules.
Destroying the Indy Tourney circuit would do far more harm to GW sales than letting them comp.

This.
Plenty of places to discuss the need, or absence thereof, for comp. But we can pass on "legal" fear mongering.
