I talked to a GW Store Manager a few months ago and she informed me that even the Collectors GW Lines would eventually be converted to Plastics - even including the Mordian, Tallarn, etc etc. Can we expect to see Sisters Kits in the near future?

I also remember seeing this post on BoLS talking about how Finecast is being snuffed out Q2 next year, was there any new news on this?

News and Rumours is not for asking questions....

We wont see new Sisters models until every other army has been updated for 6E, so end of 2014 or sometime 2015 at the soonest.

The GW Store Manager I talk to has told me GW Store Managers are usually the last to know about releases and future plans for GW models.

You can't convert metal moulds into plastic, new figures need new sculpts. Does that seem likely for all their older ranges? GW managers are typically not in the loop regarding future releases.

Not sure. A mould that can cope with molten tin can sure as hell cope with plastics, especially resin.

As for SOB, I think it depends on whether that conversion of moulds is actually possible. If so, we may get plastic sisters in the near future, albeit with old models. I don't know how many people actually play SOB, so the conversion of the moulds may just be not profitable enough for GW to bother with it. Since they just released the nex codex and added precisely nothing it is safe to assume that there wont be any new models for the sisters anytime soon, thats for sure.

Space Marine HQ alone has 50+ metal and Finecast models. Do you really think that GW will release 50+ new plastics for Space Marines alone in the near future? Or 4-6 new IG armies?
Plastic sisters will probably come eventually, but not in the near future.

To answer the topic: No one can possibly know and there are no reliable rumours.

I find it funny that people think moving sisters to plastics would be such a huge task. We need ONE box. One box of troops with some different weapon options thrown in. One box that resembles the Grey Knight standard trooper box.

Everything else can be built out of that. Would we like a new Exorcist? Sure, but it's not needed.

We only have one troop choice, and all the other sisters look exactly like them with the exception of the Seraphim, but even then we could quite easily hook them up with some jump pack and make do.

Penitent Engines? Sure, but we don't need 100+ of those, so it's not horrible that it stays metal for a little while longer.

Really, one box would allow us to build the large bulk of our army in plastics.

Quite possibly. While people have been hoping for them for a while, and many rumours of their imminent arrival have surfaced over the years, we have some very encouraging factors in their favour right now.

Firstly, the newest SoB codex sold very well, according to a screenshot of iTunes. Some people theorised that SoB weren't getting plastics due to GW not seeing them as a good investment, which this certainly disproves.

Secondly, the main reason we hadn't seen them previously? Modelling issues. Jes Goodwin and Phil Kelly each said that the modellers had issues getting the Sisters into plastic. Namely, I believe that the issues cited were the hair and arm robes, they couldn't get these to look right in plastic. Though what's encouraging about this is that it tells us that they have indeed tried to make upgrade them to plastic before, so it's something that they want to do. An especially good sign on this front is that recently, at Enter the Citadel, GW devs apparently said that they now had the technology to do Sisters in plastic. Assuming this is true, they can now do something that they were trying to do anyway.

Though, to add a disclaimer, this doesn't mean that we'll see them in the near future. GW could have other plans for a long while. Another poster here has theorised that early 2015 would be a good time financially and generally to release them, but really, nobody knows for sure. All the above tells us is that there's some good factors in favour of them happening at some point.

Would that happen, though? Four units sharing one kit seems a bit much.

Besides, I'd like Dominions posed like they're running forwards and really ornately armoured Celestians with fleur-topped helmets.

The GW Store Manager I recently spoke with wasn't entire sure what SoB were. When I offered that they were a 40k army he pointed to the rack containing the army books and asked me to prove it.

GW shut down metal production a LONG time ago and they *still* have metal Mordian and Tallarn models in a warehouse. So I'd say the timeframe for them being converted to plastic is somewhere between when hell freezes over and the universe collapses upon itself; give or take a decade.

A metal tin mold is used for pouring. Plastic is direct injection from a hopper that is heated rapidly and injected into a mold block and held in place for seconds. Any longer and the product becomes unusable as the plastic turns to garbage. If you work in an injection facility and a line or dollop of plastic hits the floor its called duck crap for a reason as that stuff will steam for hours and melt shoe bottoms.
