Some superheavies like Phantoms and Reavers can get Titan Close Combat weapons. But how useful is it? You must swap out another weapon for it, after all. Upping their melee strength from 10 to D seems like a minor gain compared to the big gun you're swapping out, considering how low A and WS stats superheavies usually have.

It depends on how much you want to falcon punch a stompa, really. I personally prefer shooting them.

One issue is the number of attacks a TCCW gives a Superheavy Walker. In the previous edition, a Walker gained 3 attacks per TCCW at Strength D. In the current edition Walkers deal a number of D strength hits on a successful attack. Is it better now than then?
I'm not sure. Most of Reavers have a TCCW, Laser Blaster, and a missile pod, because at the time that layout felt more balanced versus the 8D pie plate layout everyone preferred to field yet no one enjoyed playing against until the new Apoc rules came out. As it stands, 8D is still the "better" choice, yet my config is still more friendly, IMO. (Although my "Brawler" Reaver with 2 Fists and a Vortex Missile still makes me smile!)

Wait what, where is this?

I am thinking Chaos Reaver with TCCW, missiles and either Gatling Blaster or Laser Blaster. :3 Gatling Blaster seems kinda sucky (D is better, even if 6 battle cannon templates never go amiss) but does look better than the Laser Blaster.

TCCW use to give a Titan 3 attacks at Str D per TCCW, which could deal 1d3 wounds per hit to a Gargantuan Creature per hit. Currently, a TCCW gives no extra attacks and deals 0-12 wounds on a GC per hit. 0-9 vs 0-12 per TCCW.

Titans have so few attacks that making them STR D is just a waste. You get more D-weapon hits by taking a gun and shooting things with it.

Yeah, Chaos got screwed in that book. A str D chainsword? Lemme just chase down that 36 in. dancing gunboat you put a few pages later.
Seriously, it's bad enough that chaos gets a codex super early in both 5th and 6th editions, leaving the Army dated and mediocre for a majority of the gaming cycle, but even when given an opportunity to balance out, we get gak like this. The best thing you can do as a CSM player right now is bring as many Daemons as possible or spam Oblits and Heldrakes.
Whew, sorry. /rant

They seem decent for defending yourself against enemy Titans and Gargantuan Creatures in melee. A Reaver with a TCCW can make a Stompa very sad.
I'd probably just take it because it looks awesome, though.

Definitely NOT against another SH. I'm not interested in getting hit with a D blast upon killing my enemies SH in combat.

Dude those Reaver Powerclaws look super cool. I mean cool enough to take the weapon regardless of power.
For a Reaver titan my Ideal loadout would be the aforementioned Power Claws and a Volcano Cannon.
But yes they are useful. They make it so your titan can swat MC's assaulting it, and defend itself against an assaulting Revenant titan. These are both good to have. My thoughts exactly.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." |

Niche case, but they might be useful to help get you out of close combat with some beatstick that has T6+ or Eternal Warrior, but is not itself a super-heavy or gargantuan creature.

Really, only reasons I take a TCCW are because I like the look and opponents are less likely to gripe about my Titans being D-caddies.
My Reavers and Warlords are both set up with a Gatling Cannon left arm, TCCW right arm, Apoc Missile Launcher on carapace, and a Carl Gustav styles Vortex Missile as the Warlords' second carapace weapon. Taking the TCCW (modeled as a lance) and a one-shot D weapon back in 5th was a more acceptable alternative to 8-10 D-plates everyone else wanted to bring.
My "Ferrus Dux" (Iron Duke) Emperor has 2 rotory cannon arms, 4 earthshaker cannons and 2 Apoc launchers, because it looks cool and opponents appreciate my not dropping 26 D-plates on them. For that, I have "Ashes of Oberon", my all D-weapon Emperor. When I finish it, I'll be adding an all Plasma Emperor named "Thermopoly", because who wouldn't want to defend the "Hot Gates" from an invading horde?
The only Titan I have with 2 TCCW is a Reaver with 2 fists and a Vortex missile I like to call "Brawler". It was just a stupid-fun distraction unit I thought might be cool as a flanker. Never worked out all that well as Reavers could only melee other Superheavies or GCs.
