Annihilation barge

I suppose I'm wondering: should I be bringing another flyer/warrior unit and loosing one wraith unit, or lose the annihilation barge to buff the wraiths with whip coils? What do you think?

I hope your partner has scoring units to spare, as yours will likely vanish quite easily.
You'll kill stuff, no doubt, but remember that most missions are very objective-based.

I have two units that are completely bubble wrapped by staying in fliers and either walking onto home objectives after the fliers get shot down late on, or get dropped on deeper objectives, again v late game. Partner should be bringing 2/3 troops so 4/5 between us seems okay? Fairly normal for 2000 pts?

5 should be fine, assuming his aren't something like 5-man Vet Squads with no transport or something similarly squishy.

Thought vet squads had to be ten men?

Hey khol, they do unless your taking the armoured company rules from forge world which generally aren't accepted in most tournies so I wouldn't worry about it. Just out of interest what is your partner playing/taking? I think your side looks very solid. I think 2 units of wraiths is fine. Personally that's what I use at 1000-1500 pts

Just going to throw it out their but I think a sm biker list would complement your list very well. Beat stick commander on bike with usual gear. Couple of bike squads. Scout squad with snipes for home objective and a couple of thunder fire cannons. Then flavour to taste.

What's the partner's army?

Your list looks solid. But depending on the partner's army, I'd trade one Wraith unit by another troop squad.

Mephy as an HQ plus some ground mech from the BA player would make for a pretty interesting aggresive army.

I think it's pretty clear you should be dropping the 2nd wraith squad here, grab another annihilation barge and a couple more warriors if I'm remembering the points correctly.

Wraiths are exciting but 5 man warrior's aren't going to hold objectives effectively in a 2k game with variable length.

I'd actually love to play either side of my proposed strategy, if you're playing people that aren't as experienced w/ teams you could trip them up with the pressure of these assault monsters moving 12'' every turn.

Yeah I think the wraiths teamed up with 2 full assault marine squads with priests and baals will be quite potent in applying lots of early pressure. I'd keep the 2nd wraith squad and overload with fast moving threats

Well it was fun! Won 2, lost 2. The wraiths were MVPs for sure. And the two units were a great idea.

This is my list for the same doubles setup. I chose optionB (or C) in the adepticon rules where I'm allowed 2HS choices. Not sure if you have that setup or not though.

It's a lot like yours only I opted to take another barge. I'm short on troop choices but my partner picks that up. It's undefeated so far and always performs well. Very well rounded at 1000pts. If your partner can pick up the slack with the scoring units then you should definitely carry your own weight.

The two squads of wraiths were our best and most effective units in both games. Anything 1500 points and up from now on I am definitely taking 3 units from now on.
