Warp-Screaming Noise Marine

After reading the Black Legion supplement and many an overnight deliberation (I'm moderately insomniac), I decided to convert my CSM army into the Children of Torment, the Slaaneshi faction of the Black Legion. Here's the new and improved list:

HQ:
1 Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour, 192 pts. (PF, LC, MoS, Skull of Ker’ngar, VotLW)

Troops: 770 pts.
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (5x Sonic Blasters, Doom Siren on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (5x Sonic Blasters, Doom Siren on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (Blastmaster, VotLW) (ADL squad)
6x Noise Marines, 163 pts. (Blastmaster, LC on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 163 pts. (Blastmaster, LC on Champion, VotLW)

Dedicated Transport:
2x Chaos Rhino, 70/80 pts. (Dozer Blade or Dirge Caster)

Elites:
6x Chaos Terminators, 301 pts. (2x PF, 3x PA, 1 Combi-melta, LC + Combi-melta on Champion, MoS, Icon of Excess, VotLW)

Fast Attack:
5x Raptors, 155 pts. (2x Meltagun, LC + Melta Bombs on Champion, MoS, VotLW)
OR
1 Heldrake, 170 pts. (Baleflamer)

Heavy Support:
1 Chaos Predator, 115 pts. (Autocannon, Las sponsons)
1 Chaos Vindicator, 130/135 pts. (Siege Shield, Combi-bolter)

Fortification:
1 Aegis Defence Line, 100 pts. (Quad Cannon)

Total: 1848 pts.

The army includes fluffy and/or appealing units and upgrades which are, hopefully, relatively efficient. The idea behind the organisation is:
- The reason for using the Black Legion supplement is A) the Skull of Ker'ngar (EW+Adamantium Will), B) Unholy Fortitude and Soul Stealer are awesome Warlord Traits (as is Black Crusader against SM).
- Chaos Lord and his retinue of Chaos Terminators DS and "tear the throat of the enemy" (Horus's favoured doctrine). With their equipment they should be able to easily take on enemy command squads, MCs and armoured vehicles.
- Noise Marines form the backbone of my army and provide immense anti-infantry firepower. My idea is that 2 Sonic Blaster squads with Doom Sirens embark on Rhinos, whereas the 2 units with Blastmasters move on foot. The 3rd unit of Sonic Blasters stays behind the ADL and its Champion mans the Quad Cannon. Is this a good setup or should I change something in here?
- Fast Attack slot is interchangeable, depending on my mood and/or opponent. Raptors are good vehicle/MC hunters, whereas Heldrake is more versatile.
- Vindicator eradicates all infantry, and Predator is a big game hunter.

What are your thoughts about this army? Any suggestions, tactical advice?

Edit: Introduced some suggested changes. Rhino upgrades and Vindicator's Combi-bolter taken only when using Raptors instead of Heldrake, to stay below 1850 pts.

First of all, I've got to say that this is an AWESOME looking list; I'm a sucker for Slaanesh. That being said, I have these critiques to give:
1. You don't really need the SoC on your Lord. Usually I find that his 2+/5++ is enough.

2. The Tri-Las set-up for the Predator, while sometimes useful, is not amazing by any means, it'd be better to have the main gun stick to being an autocannon.

3. The dozer blades on the Rhinos won't be amazingly effective; usually in my case the METAL BAWKSES get busted open first turn. But YMMV, it's up to you if you need them.

4. If you wanna take Raptors, you don't need a plasma pistol, it doesn't make its points back.

5. On the first Noise Marine squad, I'd take a Lightning Claw. Same cost, but you get Shred, and it's quite useful.

Overall, those are minor critiques so take them or leave them, the army can work with what you've planned. But overall I love this. Nice and fluffy as well, which is a nice touch as I've always played to Iron Warriors fluff (but I slip in cult troops all the time). I can't really provide advice for the relics as I have yet to buy the Black Legion book.

EDIT: I forgot to mention; if possible, trim enough points so you can give the Terminators MoS and the Icon of Excess. A FnP on top of a 2+/5++ is a wonderful sight to behold, and they always hit first in combat which is AWESOME.

Glad you like it. Btw, Iron Warriors are one of my favourite Traitor Legions

1. I thought about that as well. With Eternal Warrior thanks to the Skull of Ker'ngar, 4++ over the 5++ provided by the Terminator Armour may not really be worth those additional 25 pts.
2. My Chaos Pred is magnetised, so I may swap the TL Lascannon for the Autocannon anytime.
3. That's true, I could run the METAL BAWKSES with no upgrades at all to save some points.
4. Good to know that. Frankly speaking, getting rid off the Plasma Pistol would get me enough points to swap Meltaguns for Plasma Guns should I wish so (I plan to make them easily interchangeable).
5. I do love LCs and Shred. Also, my Warband venerates Horus and Abaddon, so the use of LC is fluffy as well. I gave that one Champion Power Sword because there's a nice model in the NM Upgrade Pack, but I'll consider swapping it for yet another Claw.

After removing SoC, TL Lascannon and Raptor Champion's Plasma Pistol, I regain 65 pts. to spend. I can use those to give my Chaos Termies MoS and Icon of Excess for 64 pts. and end up with 1848 pts. total. When using Heldrake instead of Raptors, I would have to drop upgrades from Rhinos as well.

FnP for Termies and Chaos Terminator Lord, woohoo! And they will look awesome with the Icon, too. Many thanks for the suggestions

No problem. The Terminators will eat face when they get into combat; it should be fun to see.

I'm a bit iffy about Deep Striking them (my dice rolls are below average), but you know what they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Btw, any comments about the Noise Marines? I'm still not sure how to organise their squads. That is, which should take Rhinos, which should move on foot, which one should man the Quadcannon? Depending on the results I may easily swap Noise Champions between the squads to better meet their roles, but I'd be nice to hear some opinions first.

I understand the need for fluff and keeping the noise marine squad size as it is, but I don't see the need for lightning claws on the blastmaster champs. Those units are toast should they see close combat anyway. Also, the configuration of the other units... I can see why you'd want doom sirens as fluff pieces and assault deterrents, but I question whether they will see much use. Soundblasters are overpriced boltguns most of the time but I'm sure you know that.

The quad gun should be manned by a naked noise champion in a blastmaster squad. Blastmaster squads have 48'' range and should utilise this fact by keeping the feth away from the enemy.

Personally I would drop the doom siren and sonic blasters on the aegis squad as they will likely never be used (the siren will be out of range and the sonics have to shoot the same target as the quad gun which will likely be a flier so not do much damage if any).

I would also try and fit a lightning claw or power maul or 2 into the terminators. It makes more use of these initiative bonus from MOS and the maul means they might stun a MC or character to make them hit at I1.

Cool list, do you have any of the new FW noise marines? Those are so awesome it's not even funny. I love the way they look, and break up an army pretty well.

Overall, it's a fluff list, the kind of list dreams are made of. Depending on your gaming group you'll be good. It's competitive enough for casual fun play. Don't know how it would fare in a tournament setting.

I like the weapon load out on your termies but I fail to see how the mos helps them when 5 of the 6 have unwieldy weapons? I understand completely the need to keep things fluffy but for the sake of usefulness I would consider going khorne or nurgle on those termies or change the load out to include lc and pm, in any combination with a chainfist.

Thanks for your replies! Your advice is much appreciated, but fluffiness/appeal wins with efficiency in some cases However, I think that changing the equipment of the ADL squad is indeed necessary.

Troops: 770 pts. (cost doesn't change)
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (5x Sonic Blasters, Doom Siren on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (5x Sonic Blasters, Doom Siren on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 148 pts. (Blastmaster, VotLW) (ADL squad)
6x Noise Marines, 163 pts. (Blastmaster, LC on Champion, VotLW)
6x Noise Marines, 163 pts. (Blastmaster, LC on Champion, VotLW)

That should be better.

Taking a Power Maul in the mix of Termies sounds nice, I'll consider this. And I do love the Kakophoni, but the FW prices... Still, some day I think I'll buy a squad, they're just too awesome.

The MoS on Termies is basically tax, so that they can take Icon of Excess and share FnP with their Chaos Lord leader. And the Terminator Champion does benefit from it (he has LC), so it isn't utterly wasted ^^

Hey OP, I too am making a CSM list. Im a new player, but I have been collecting CSM for a bit so I have a little over 4000 points at my disposal. I have two questions about your list:

How are you taking the noise marines as troop choices?

How are you taking blastmasters in a squad of 6? the way I understood it, you can only take a blastmaster when the squad reaches 10 models.

I havent much experience, but putting a csm squad with a slightly kitted champ on the ADL gun seems like an expensive choice. I also think the heldrake is more useful then the raptors, if points allow. I love noise marines though, you have a lot of firepower in this list.

You can take Noise Marines as Troops choices when your Chaos Lord has Mark of Slaanesh.

According to FAQ on the GW official website, we can now take 1 Blastmaster in any Noise Marine squad, and an additional one when the squad reaches 10 or more models.

I know Heldrake is better than Raptors, but I intend to get both and swap depending on the circumstances

I like to run my noise marines 1 of 2 ways.
A:Noise x 10, 7 x Sonic, 2 x Blaster sitting behind an ADL
B:Noise x 10 , 9 x CCW, Sgt w/ Doom.

I also like to run a slannesh Sorc lv 3 to get all the powers that do extra damage w/ sonic weapons.
