No. Get the book, and also a car. You will need that to carry the manta to your FLGS.

HAHAHAHAHA no. A tau manta is over 1800pts. Seriously, why? Just...why? Its not like it is really that good, just big. And it still has to land to unload, just like a thunderhawk. Essentially, its a 2 foot wide target. Run like 15 hammerheads instead.

You don't even need Skyfire to shoot it. It's that big.
I don't even see the point. For the price a Titan is better at killing.

You mean besides the fact that you cant take 15 hammerheads in a regular 2k game?
as well what book as it at 1800 points?

He did say "over" 1800 points, which is correct. It is somewhere over 1800 points. Question is, are we allowed to give exact points cost here?

Nope. Not a chance. 2500, I think you should be alright.
When I say alright, I mean in terms of points. If you have a Tau Manta, your mental state has probably never been alright to start with.

For the price? No. The Rev Titan can still wipe armies single handedly with it's 4 S D blasts, and for under half the price too. Then again, Eldar titans are very OP...

I honestly think its worth the price if you can afford it. A manta falls in line with items like Gucci bags, and Ferrari's. Nobody needs a Gucci bag, or Ferrari, but guess what? Some people have money to blow on these items. And some war-gamers *shocker* actually have good jobs to buy mantas, titan maniples...etc.
So to answer the question I would love to play against a manta at 2700 pts. Turn 1 blast my opponents models off the table, end of turn 1 I win.
Edit: spelling errors..

I meant to add that I would only play against a manta in escalation if it was a real one and not a scratch build.
I don't care how good your scratch build looks, if it didnt come from FW its not a manta. That and it's an insult to those people out there who spent the money on a real one.

Or if someone built their own house instead of buying one. Or if someone made their own anything without buying the full product. It should be commended. They used their brain and skill.

#1 - Wasn't going to buy one, but was going to make one myself.
#2 - Is it possible to run it in a 2500 point match?
Being that the Manta takes way to many points and is too expensive I only wanted to know if someone could formulate a list so I could just run it for fun, not competitively, but just to do it a few times. So could anyone make a list?

You will have to make your opponent promise not to table you on the first turn

You talk like networking is easy, it takes skills to be able to network. And trust me there is nothing worse than working for morons so I feel your pain. But don't hate me because I used my brains to acquire skills that pay, then went out and started networking to find a job that allows me to routinely buy expensive stuff from FW so I can play the game as GW intended. However said job is a curse as I hardly have time to play and enjoy the hobby I love as I'm always working. My model building skills have degraded to the point where I was barely able to put Asterion Moloc togther and I broke Ivanus Enkomi's crosius lol. Frankly the only thing holding me back from buying a manta or Titan is I would never be able to put it togther or if I did it would be all deformed and held togther with tape and Elmer's glue.
All I ask my opponent is to have the correct model if it has a model from GW. However if there is no model to buy then by all means scratch build.

Im not hating on you for being wealthy, just your view on the unwealthy. Imagine if when you went to the interview you where hit by a car and missed it. someone else got that job and when you got out of hospital you couldnt find another oppurtunity and got stuck at McDonalds? Would you be upset if i refused to play you because you didnt have a company made model because you couldnt afford to pay for it? What if i started saying how brain dead and lazy you where for working at a low pay rate? You probably would be upset. If getting wealthy was easy for anyone we would all be wealthy. I just (and i am by no means poor) find it very offensive you would say something like that. Its pretty similar to racism. Wealth isnt something people can control. What about people in 3rd world countries, you gonna rip into their intellegenace for playing wargames with coloured stones too? what about 14 year old kids using army men (something i had to do a mere 5 years ago), gonna tell them to give up the game because their parents are too dumb to earn enough to buy you over priced plastic? Sorry but no amount of friendly replies talking about your luck will soften my dislike towards you.
