I was wondering if it would be possible for BA marines to develop wings like Sanguinius as they share his gene seed.
Thanks

While it is probably possible, such an obvius mutation may get them into trouble with the more radical elements of the inquisition and adeptus ministorum.

During the Blood Angels omnibus, one of the blood angels does actually grow a pair of angel wings.

This is true, but it is due to Chaos corruption.
I'm actually surprised GW hasn't created an actual winged character for the Blood Angels. It is actually the reason that I don't believe the Sanguinor theory of him being a manifestation of part of Sanguinius' soul. Wouldn't he have real wings in that case instead of a winged jump pack?

I believe that the wings ARE his, but he needs the jump pack to fly in his armour.

The wings weren't from the geneseed, they were from the Warp Dust he inhaled on the way to Baal. The fact that he landed on a radioactive planet didn't help either.

I don't think it's ever stated where the wings came from. It could be argued either way, warp mutation or by the Emperor's design.

I'd probably go with warp mutation. Otherwise winged BA would be popping up left right and centre.

I'm not saying one way or the other, my point was just that due to lack of confirmation they are both valid explanations at this time.

Even if it is a mutation, wouldn't it still pass onto the BA because the damage was done to his genetics.

Whatever the reason for his wings, it is a trait that hasn't ever passed to any Blood Angels as far as we know. Even Mephiston, whose geneseed reawakened and caused further advancement to his Astartes physiology, doesn't have wings like Sanguinius did.

It's likely that the Sanguinor is just another ''type'' of a Living Saint.

That is the least stupid explanation for the Sanguinor I've ever seen! Thank you for that. Now I have a counter to the guys in my gaming circle who insist he's a living saint, or a perpetual, or the BA's own personal Chaos daemon.
BTW, have an exalt!

Considering that the imperium can put wings on dead babies, well maybe not dead but something fething weird anyway....It is entirely possible that Sanguinius wings weren't due to his genetics, or the warp, but were a modification of the emperors design after the primarch had started to grow.

Considering that guys like the Space Sharks, Black Dragons, Space Wolves, etc all exist, it's unlikely the Inquisition could do anything besides shake their fists and send angry letters.

even then, in most those cases, the more radical branches of the imperium have tried to intervene regardless (black dragons spring to mind.)

Yeah, but with the Black Dragons, it's not that surprising to want to intervene when your loyalists are near indistinguishable from the traitor marines they're fighting. Blood Angels growing wings similar to their Primarchs? They might be able to just handwave it as them being righteous children of Sanguinius or something. It's really hard to bring up a case against a highly supported and massive chapter like the Blood Angels. Sure, they'd try, but it hasn't been effective on the chapters that are ludicrously corrupted.

i must respectfully point out that your logic does not appear to make any sense to me. wings= mutation. Mutation= investigation. investigation=destruction or =aquital. while i am sure that the blood angels, as a first founding chapter, are immune to such charges, what about other BA succesors, like the flesh teares. they are already thought of by some inquisitors as being curripted by khorne

Not likely since the geneseed fir the blood angels was removed from sanguinus in utereo before he disappeared and showed up a century later with wings. The murations would therefore only affect him. Possible exception could be had because of the ba initiation process which is just being locked in a coffin and drinking sanguinus blood for a year. Especially likely among the sang priests who reproduce his blood using their own bone marrow. All others are probably not exposed enough to it

Just read on lexicanum all about the blood angels to refresh my memory. It says that Aspirants are given a small amount of Sangiunius' blood when inducted. If they mutate enough for the Red Thirst and Black Rage, why couldn't there be at least one that developed wings? It also says they spend a full year in a casket until they have matured, maybe when they open it up there pops out a new blood angel with wings. If that happened I think they might worship this guy as the true son of Sangiunius, perfection. But what would happen if he developed the Red Thirst or Black Rage? Ultimate showdown!

Because Sanguinius' wings were not due to his geneseed, but to Chaos mutation.

As already stated earlier in the thread, we don't know that. Either explanation is equally valid at this point, as its never been stated one way or the other.

Boom! Leman Russ Commander

The heresy books make mention that many of the geneseeds contained animal genetics. Had they said one, the pups would be the easy one to point at, but it mentioned more than one. i had ben led to believe that he was "born' with the wings.
If that is the case, it would explain why the blood angels dont get them. they would inherit many of the physical properties such as facial features or lengthening teeth but a whole set of wings, they would had to have had it implanted into them before thier birth to develop.
