Hello lads. I am using the Clan Raukaan supplement and the new Escalation supplement to create a list that attempts to emulate what a small Mechanicus force would look like. List and unit rationale to follow.

Primary Detachment: Clan Raukaan, Chapter Tactics (Iron Hands)
HQ:
Master of the Forge
● The Betrayer's Bane
● The Tempered Helm
● The Ironstone
This MotF represents a Magos Technicus.

Master of the Forge
●Thunder Hammer
● The Gorgon's Chain
● Plasma Pistol
This MotF represents a Magos Militant accompanying the expedition. He is the Warlord.

Techmarine
● Servo-harness
● Combi-melta
This Techmarine represents an assistant to the Magos Militant.

Techmarine
● Servo-Harness
The assistant for the Magos Technicus.

4x Techmarines
These represent the random Mechanicus overseers.

2x Servitors
These two are just fluffy point fillers.

Troops:
Tactical Squad
●Plasma Gun
●Razorback
A small unit of Skitarii protectors.

Tactical Squad
● Plasma Gun
● Rhino
Another small Skitarii unit.

Heavy Support:
Land Raider
This is the command vehicle for the small group. It has enough transport capacity for the Techmarines, Servitors, and MotFs.

Lord of War:
Warhound Titan
This represents the main combat power of the explorator force.

Why not just use the Legio Cybernetica army list from Horus Heresy II: Massacre? I've used it with great success, it's a hell of a lot of fun!

Well, I have two castellaxi as robots, the 2nd Edition Skullz magos as a Magos Dominus (works ok - I mean, it's an official Magos model), a scratchbuilt techmarine-guardsman hybrid I made as a magos for a Dark Heresy game (who was surprisingly WYSIWYG, right down to the machinator array), and some techpriests with gubbins as Myrmidon Secutors.
