Hi everyone.

With the WE book coming up and around the bend soon, I've been working on collecting models for a WE "counts as" using models of Amazons.

The first problem I immediately noticed is that there are a lot of different ideas of what makes an amazon.

Note.

Amazon 1. The "Greek/Roman"Trojan" Amazon.

This pretty much constitutes any Amazons that wear breastplates and use shields/spears/etc. They tend to come from historical range makers.

Amazon 2. Something naked.

These come up a lot while searching. The theme varies from arcane, to jungle, to gothic, to really anything as long as bewbs are showing. I get so tired of wading through these.

Amazon 3. The Jungle.

THIS is what I'm talking about. The Jungle Amazon. Often with thick gold bracelets, Incan/Mayan/S. American Indian themes.

Sadly, these also seem to be the shortest in supply. Does anyone know a good range of these models? The Freebooter Line is great, but meant for a much smaller skirmish game and seems to me like the highly detailed ladies there would be characters instead of rank and file. Luckily, I won't be ranking up too many units with high elves, so repitition isn't as terrible. I'm just trying to find more models to work with! I found a few on reaper..but again, those are mostly character material. I've about decided that as hard a search as this is, I'm going to have to convert bows in if I want them because hardly any of the few amazon models I've found have them.

PS. I don't hate naked amazons, as long as they are a good model and make sense and aren't just naked for the lulz.

I agree. Whoever painted these did well!

I've yet to put paint to a model, as I want to get the logistics down first. I need help finding models!

They make a rather large assortment. Regular people feet and then the ferals which offer an additional set of options like fawns and centaurs.

Given some of the rather busty girls I know who do archery for fun, somehow I doubt the whole 'cutting off breasts to shoot better' thing ever actually happened. "Without a breast" doubtless denotes women who had an excess of exercise and a lack of body fat.

Either that or it's a euphemism for women who don't like men but want to be just like them. "Not very feminine" would be the polite way to say it.

EDIT: Okay, that was a total thread derail, sorry...

As you probably know Wargames Factory makes a cheap box set of Amazons. (Grecco/Roman, but good for modding w/ kneaditite.) They look way better -especially with the proper time and effort put into them- than the horrid paintjob on their website makes it seem.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

I was considering the Wargames Factory because I WILL need rank and file... but they're the wrong kind of Amazon for me.

Even worse, I don't know what part I would use if I got them. The heads are bad from what I can see and the bodies all have breastplates. (This would be fine if I was doing "Empire" or some other sort of counts as...but not for Wood Elves.)

Because then they would be dead from infections for no gain.
