Hi guys, new to the forum and relatively new to Warhammer in general. I thought I would post a list I've been playing lately and see what you think. I only play with a few friends, Chaos SM (no flyers), Tau, and Demons, is what they have been using lately if it matters. *Edit* So this is my 1500pt base that I have been using and we usually play 1750, so there is room to inflate to cover any weaknesses.

1500pts

Mepheston

Furioso Dreadnought
-twin Blood Talons
-drop pod

Sanguinary priest
-Lightning Claw
-SM Bike

Ten man Assault Squad
-2x Meltagun

Ten man Assault Squad
-Meltagun
Sgt has Melta Bomb

8 man Bike Squadron (Recent addition, and have been doing wonders, esp with the FnP)
-2x meltagun
-Attack Bike w MultiMelta

Devestator Squad
- Lascanon
- 3x Missile Launcher

Devestator Squad (Usually I like to use 4 Plasma Canons)
- Lascanon
- 3x Missile Launcher

What I've been doing is hiding Mepheston behind line of sight blocking cover to start, usually I like to hide him behind a autocannon predator but I opted for more firepower in the Devastators in this list. Combat squading the Assault Squads and keeping the melta guns in reserve for deep strike tank hunting, and keeping the other halves with the Sargent on the table to razz weak shooting units/cap objectives. Assault drop the Furioso to draw agro away from Meph and put him close to the largest quantity of troops with the lowest quantity of meltas, and put the priest with the bike squad to rush through the field with tank hunting as a primary objective but also to rush the squads with high str shots I want to keep from shooting Meph or the Furioso. And the Devestator squads are deployed on opposite sides of the board for max coverage of the board and choices of angles to exploit weaknesses, ideally in ruins.

So I have 6 meltaguns and 1 multimelta, 2 lascanons, and 6 missle launchers for popping tanks, I'm only worried I should drop Mepheston (only recently started using him) in favour of more troops or something.

A baal predator with autocannons and heavy bolters is a fast attack choice and has always performed well for me. Also I would switch the dread to frag cannon/blood claw with melta, and add a magna grapple. That gives you two str 6 rending templates that ignore cover and two AP2 shots off the drop. This guy eats defense lines.

Welcome to the Dakka!

The first thing I'll say is that it really helps people if you include the point level of your list in title (or at least in the text).

But about the list:
It looks good and I especially like the biker squad!
It will be tough to remove with T5 jink save and FnP.

The Furioso could do better with Frag Cannon, as stated above. And I kind of wonder about the loadouts on Dev Squads... That could work I guess, but wouldn't it be better to have both LC's in the same squad? They can focus on tanks while the other squad kills infantry.

P.S. keep Mephiston. He's worth it, if you want more troops take squad of Scouts for objective.

i undertsand the devs, its so you can reliably take out a medium armor vehicle per turn with each squad, as well as have sum infantry smashin, and why would mephy be worth it? i have him and used to take him but stopped after he got insta killed

Thanks for all the input so far guys, really appreciate it, and edited to include the points value.

I only do one Las canon to use with the Signum (spelling?) per squad, keeping the Sg up front for the first casualty and keep the las in the back.

I will definitely try the Furioso that way, I've been using the Talons because my friends are scared shitless of them so when he comes down a ton of focus goes to him.

I've personally never had Meph easily other than once a squad of crisis suits with a gak ton of plasma came down and ate him in my last game vs Tau. I've only fielded him a half a dozen times and TWICE my brother turned him into a Chaos Spawn with one of his Demon abilities, so I don't really feel I've gotten to see what he's all about. I started using him because when I face Chaos SM his HQ units always smash me, I really like Dante to exploit 2x Sanguinary Guard (w +1 attack banner) as troops and nerf an HQ deep striking with a 2 meltagun squad of Attack Squad SMs to pop a key tank/unit and hit and run them out and try to run Dante into another squad when his meat shield is low.

He is T6 so no weapon can instagib him without the USR.
Keep him away from such weapons and avoid Plasma.

And with five wounds he should survive pretty well.
The enemy needs to shoot about 10-12 shots of Plasma to kill him and since he has his psychic JP he can avoid rapid fire range pretty well.
