Ok, so I'm in a campaign at my local GW and I plan on fighting against my friend, who plays Necrons.

Heres what he usually brings at 1500 so far in the campaign. I doubt this will change too much.

Overlord w/ Res Orb
15x Man Warrior Squad
15x Man Warrior Squad
5x Man Immortal Squad
8x Scarabs
Anni Barge
Doomsday Ark
Doom Scythe

This is a rough recollection.

I usually bring

Ultramarines

HQ:

Libby

Troops:

9x Man Tac w/ Drop Pod
Flamer, Combi Flamer

Elites:

9x Man Sternguard w/ Drop Pod (Deathwind ML)
3x Combi Melta, Heavy Flamer

Iron Hands:

HQ:

MoTF – 90 pts

Elites:

Ironclad Dread – 190 pts
2x Heavy Flamer
Drop Pod

Fast Attack:

Stormtalon Missile – 145 pts

Heavy Support:

Are there any good tips you can give me? Does my list stand a chance? Thanks, Happy Holidays -Feasible

Drop Dreads, Flame the warriors, repeat. You will get glanced heavily so try to target saturate the dreads and maybe find room for deathwinds in your dops?

Remember his Quantum Shielding doesn't cover rear armor. Just drop right on top of him, disembark to the rear of his boats, and unload with melta. You'll need to ensure you have some more melta in that list, I think. I love burning hordes to death as much as anyone, but you gotta get em out of their boxes first.

The Doomsday Ark and Annihiliation Barge are the top two priorities. After that, focus on knocking that flyer out of the sky. If it's AV11 like I think it is, then taking the Stormtalon with Skyhammer missiles and unloading on the flyer should take it out.

There aren't any transports. Yeah his flyer is AV 11, I just hope i can take it out before it can take me out. Thanks

I would have said the scarabs are your first priority. They will decimate your dreads if not dealt with straight away. If he deploys them in one unit, you should be ok, as the sheer amount of flaming against swarms should cause them serious pain, but if he splits them in two they will become more problamatic.

The list seems solid but there are a few changes I would personally make to make it hit a lot harder on turn 1:

I would drop the tacs down to 5 man so you can get another 5 man tac squad with plasma gun and pod, allowing all 4 dreads and the sternguard to arrive turn 1. With the spare points you can grab another sternie with heavy flamer so you can combat squad them on the drop and the hfs can go after something different from the combi-meltas. Leaves you with 16points that you can either invest in another tac marine, or another combi-melta for the sternguard with a mb thrown in somewhere.
The only other thing I would do is drop the typhoon down to a skyhammer and invest the points in 2 more combi-flamers for the hf combat squad. Thus giving you a really nasty unit on turn 1 that splits into one squad with 4 melta shots and one squad with 2 hf and 2 flamer templates. They will seriously screw with your opponents plans.

Way not take a allied command squad with meltas and pod?

Hmm....that actually sounds like a very good idea. I'll definitely look at that.
