Hey all,
I'm a new war gamer and just found a group to play with an hour away. I already have the hardback Warmachine Mk2 rulebook as well as starting Cygnar, Khador, and Menoth armies to play around with. (I love modeling lol) I just got a new tablet which came with a $25 gift certificate to the Google Play store which has the Privateer Press digital app. I'm torn between getting either the Hordes rulebook or the Colossals book. I know nothing of Hordes but will be playing against them as a lot of the guys use those armies. But a lot also use the Colossal models. Lol So in a nutshell: Which one has more content for a new player? Which one has a good amount of fluff? Eventually I'll have both, but for the time being which do you think would be the most useful?

The big difference at the moment would be deciding whether you want easy access to the colossal rules or Hordes rules: Colossals is pretty thin on actual new models (just a warcaster/colossal for each of the main factions), so if you don't need the colossals rules I would grab the Hordes book.

If you have $25, you could spend a little extra on the complete library bundle on War Room ($60 normally, so less price of pain) and that gives you access to all cards in the line for the rest of the edition, as well as most the new rules that you would of found in either book since you have the Warmachien core. A tad pricier but probably a good investment longterm.
And stuff.

I don't think you need either book right now. It may be most wise to wait until a need arises, unless the gift card has some kind of expiration date.

When you have the Warmachine rulebook you have no need of the Hordes one, the difference can be taught face to face in like 2 minutes.

I'd grab the hordes book. Some of the finer points of transferring, forcing, etc. can be a bit confusing if you are just starting out.
That and it never hurts to have the full rules.

Maybe the bare basics while learning. But the differences between focus and fury are deep and sometimes subtle. You will want these rules at some point.

This is why I suggest War Room. It has entries for fury, Fury Manipulation, Warbeasts, aspects, transfers, ect. I would reach for that since you get all the cards out of it too and it will generally update as new things come along too. Again, tad more expensive ($35 on top of your card) but I think a good investment for reference for a long shot.
And stuff.

The rules for Fury on Warroom are more than sufficient if you already own Prime.
Spending all that money for only a couple new pages of rules is really a waste.
Warroom is such an awesome app. $60 for everything until Mk3(assuming Mk3 ever comes out) is really such a sweet deal.
