I like vallejo glaze medium but id like to switch over to a big bottle of liquitex instead (cheaper, less hassle than all these small bottles of paint).
im looking for something to dilute both paint and washes.
the slow dri blending medium is looking most attractive based on the description.
something with binder is probably a good idea. anyone care to chime in?
liquitex makes good stuff, however, the liquitex glaze medium that i have dries to a gloss finish. The slow dry does the same thing. even their matte medium dries to a satin-gloss finish.
Vallejo glaze dries matte.
You can try different combos to get a good finish and nothing says you can't use a matte varnish between different layers to matte down your blends if you go the liquitex route.

ya, I bought the glazing medium already thinking it would be something similar to the vallejo one.
LOL, i was pretty surprised to see that it's gloss varnish. It's not bad at all though, still a very useful product.
i dont care about the shine too much, im mostly interested in which one is best for making/thinning washes? the glazing medium is a little thick and chunky, almost like a dip when you try to wash with it. is there one that is more thin with a nice flow straight out of the bottle while still having acrylic binder in it?
out of the three which do you like best? slow dry, glaze or matte medium?

If you are thinning paints or making washes, just use distilled water. Save those mediums (and your money) for techniques that require them.
If you really want to make large quantities of wash, use this:

Glaze is one type of medium. You can also get plain acrylic medium -- it's effectively the binder without any pigment. It dries quicker than glaze, etc though it does add sheen to the finish.
You need medium if you use artists' heavy body paints. They aren't necessary for wargame paints unless you want to thin them massively.

Correct. I would say it does not quite fit the OP's desire of large volumes to save on cost!!
I use the liquitex airbrush medum, not just for airbrushing but as a general thinning medium, as its quite ...well...thin.
It may not be as good as some of the other glazes mentioned, but if you also want to do any airbrushing, getting the same stuff in bulk for two good uses works for me!
