I'm planning on painting up some dark mechanicus and I was wondering:

-Do they apply paint to their creations or would they leave the bear metal showing?
-Did they wear red?

I think mechanicus and dark mechanicus propably looks quite alike, mechanicus already looks evil and sinister.. the main difference being that dark mech. tend to use daemons instead of biological "ingredients" in their creations. As a side note, "bear metal" sounds like a really interesting musical genre :-)

Rust and blood over faint red sounds like a convincing paint scheme. Some talismans and chaos stars here and there could look nice, but don't go overboard on the spikes.

You know what, I'll just post the wiki page. It has all of the images there.

By the way, why do the Techpriests love red so much? Does it have something to do with Mars?

You made me giggle uncontrollably . I'm trying to imagine what bear metal looks like. Or what it would sound like if it were a musical genre.

I have personally always imagined chared black with red and plenty of symbols and such to "insult" the Admech. judging from the Heretech it seems red lined with silver (in a wavy spike pattern). plus gotta have plenty of demon bits and poky stabby things all over it.

As for BEAR METAL!!

LET THERE BE ROCK!!!

Mars is often known (even today in real life) as the Red Planet. I'm assuming that's why red is sort of their "holy" color.
