There's a lot to like about this miniature. The OSL isn't overdone. The red skull in the reliquary really pops. It's a simple sculpt, but there's some great little details that your skills have highlighted. My only two crticisms would be that the veins in the marble tiles are all oriented in the same direction, and I would have like to see just a bit more contrast between the robes and his flesh.

Still, a fantastic piece!

I think your marble came out really well, actually. Any chance you would do a tutorial on how to do marble stone? My own experiments with it have been good enough that people can tell what its supposed to be, but not satisfactory to me. I'd love it if you'd be willing to share your techniques.

I admit to being a little confused on the concept, though. His flesh and his robe look like stone. Are they supposed to, or am I missing something?

That reliquary is dynamite on a stick, by the way! You've done a wonderful job at reining back the OSL, which goes a long way to using the technique well.

Jim, ill compose a tutorial for my marble approaches in the next few weeks. To tide you over, in short, i start with the mid tone, the splotch on a slightly lghter shade, taking care to leave some continuous lines travelling throughout. In those spaces a take a liner and paint a crooked slightly darker line to delineate the cracks. Then i highlight and darken appropriately. The darker marble is simple the reverse (negative) of that approach.

As for his flesh and robe. The robe is painted with dots, to create the effect of burlap. The skin is meant to be deathly and sickly (hence the liver spots), almost tainted. I kept the colors close to further accentuate the plasma cannon cel.

Nice OSL. I think what really sells the marble isn't just the jagged cracks, but the smears and smudges that give it a sense of stone beneath the porcelain surface.

Oooh me like! Really like the red detail in the standard! Now that looks awesome. Base marble looks nice too!

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

It almost looks like his hair was supposed to come over but is painted flesh tone? I can't tell on that part. The model is very will painted, I like that you took the time to pick out the different colors in the necklace, also the plasma cell glow effect.
