Preview of the first new full figure of the new year for Chapterhouse Studios. Once the figure is finished painting he will be added to the web site. He comes with arm options of a pistol, 2 swords, a spear and a shield. The buckle is unadorned, but there are many horse images sculpted on his shield and armor. I'm hoping to have h up for preorders late next week.

For me the details are too soft and lack in definition. I'm not sure who did the sculpting on this but you should not use them again as your digital stuff is a lot crisper.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I like it. I was hoping it would be a new line of guard though :( Surely I'm not the only one who thinks that a line of Attilan infantry would be awesome?

Let's try this again.

You don't have to like everything posted on Dakka. You can even choose to provide constructive criticism, if you would like to do so. But next post that I find to be non-constructive in this thread is going to result in something...unpleasant...happening to the poster's ability to post.

Is it a 40 mm base he is on or? Would be nice with a scale shot with something other than the P3 bottles. Also, what's the deal with his arms? Will those on the table be included or are they from another company - but they will still fit?

Would really like to see a similar version which could be easily mounted on a bike. A well built and ornate model like this for white scars lists would certainly help fill a gap that the GW has left by not producing an official Kor'sarro on a bike.

The details look solidm enough, though the paint could be holding it back a bit.

I like him.

He looks like a great looking new inquisitor to me. Has the feel of the old school one in the term armor from back in the day.

I'll be getting me one for my collection.

That topknot looks really terrible and blobby. It looks like an afterthought.

The trim on the armor has no edge to it just a round blob.

The face may look better without paint but the scar looks way overdone right now.

The horsehead on his back looks like Gumby's pal instead of a serious representation of a horsehead (like is on the shield).
This could be due to the paint however.

The painted on horse emblem on the buckle looks like a sock-puppet. Freehand can make or break a model. I would sculpt something there, leave it off, or at the very least re-do the freehand.

The cape looks very uneven on the edge. The curve doesn't look natural at all.

If this were a conversion put forth by someone who did it for themselves I'd say it was a pretty good effort. Since it's a product put forth by a company that supposedly produces professional miniatures and bits, I'm expecting a lot more.

Chapterhouse has some really cool stuff and some not-so-cool stuff. This definitely falls into the latter without some re-work.

The top knot has more of a 'retro' mini than 'afterthought' feel, I'd say. The softness of the sculpting of the decorative bands on the armour is an issue though. Really, that's the kind of thing that should be fixed before something is approved as a final product. It's not even that hard to do, so given some of the other details I'd say it's not a matter of lack of skill or anything - just a bit of a rush job.
Shame, 'cause it really has a lot of character to it - it's just ruined by some really relatively minor issues.

I think that with a decent paintjob this model has a lot more potential than what that picture portrays. Granted the sculpting isn't up there with the best but I would still be interested in seeing an un painted version (preferably with some arms attached ) just to see what the model actually looks like.

Also on a completely unrelated note I do wish Mods would stop typing in red text. I highly doubt I am not the only colour blind person on this forum who has to highlight what you write and paste it into MS Word just to see what you wrote...

I agree about the top knot, and the blank belt buckle probably should've been left blank by the painter. Not too impressed... although I think seeing it unpainted may help.

Nice model. Lots going on with it and it still doesn't feel cluttered.

So does this mean GW will now disavow the White Scars as an army?

I think it looks good enough. Of course, I also decided to resize the picture on my screen to be closer to actual size to help me judge it better (as I doubt the model is really 7" tall).

Wow.. didn't realize that this was here!

I'm the one painting the thing. There's a lot to it that you aren't seeing yet and the paint is still in progress. The bone-chilling blizzard made it hard to get this done this week. Looks like I'm going to have to move out of the shop if I want to keep my productivity up.

It's a neat model and barring a few stylistic choices (I'm not a fan of the topknot, it looks fine though) its great. There is a slight bulge to the cape but I doubt it will stand out at 28mm. The sword and halberd also look awesome. If the head were to be swapped out and a few other conversions made, this would also make a neat base for a Wolf Lord.

Some elements on this mini look rushed. Alot of the bases elements do look good, but alot of the adornment for the mini looks like they were rushing to sculpt it on.

Apart from the topknot, I like it. The topknot is completely out of scale with the head it is attached to though.

I really like this both as a model and giving a certain chapter some love. However, I do think it needs a bit more touching up. One area for improvement I think is the detail is a bit too soft. Once you get the detail looking a lot more "crisp" I think you have a real winner on your hands.

Also may I suggest the ability to mount him on a bike. Perhaps an upgrade kit

As for the figure, the WIP shot does it no favours, though that's often a feature of WIP shots as I know from my own photos. While the figure isn't doing much for me right now, I'd like to see a bare metal (resin?) shot of the figure as well as the fully-completed painted version to properly judge.

Cool stuff!

Thanks for posting, with you posting this I was able to see the Chapterhouse site for the first time, and I really love the kit for the Storm Raven! Going to order a couple. Maybe some other bits too. Thank you!

The model you show on the thread would make a great WS Marine!

I have cleaned out the OT chatter. Let's keep the discussion on the figure, folks. To be clear, having a negative opinion on the figure is fine. Contentless bashing of the company behind it is not.

If you have an issue with the moderation of the site, this is not the place to have that discussion.

I can heartily recommend the Stomrraven kits. A bit fiddly to fit properly, but nothing worse than dealing with the usual sort of issues inherent with many resin kits, but well worth the effort...
