Warning From Magnus? Not Listening!

So I've seen a fair few variations on the Necron royal court deathstar, usually based around Nemesor Zahndrekh, Vargard Obyron and an Overlord and 5 Lords w WS, MSS, SW, PS.
Either that or switch the Overlord for Trazyn. However on top of this I've also seen a fair few with the addition of a single Cryptek w chronometron.
Why take the chronometron? What's that reroll saved up for?
Cheers in advance
BP

It's not saved for anything specific apart from specialized scenarios like deepstriking or imotekh's nightfighting rules anyway.
What it is, is an incredibly powerful ability. Basically you get to be the hand of the deity of fate of your choice and say 'no, I do not think I wanted to have failed that armor save, characteristics test, reanimation protocols check, etc. after all. Roll again!' and it happens.

Great for that one time you fail Trollzyn the Infinite's body-swap. I think it can work for that - otherwise, yeah, Imotekh is the best use for it.

Being able to reroll undesired results throughout the game can and will be a game changer!

Just be aware that the only time you can use the Chronometron when deep striking is when rolling on the mishap table (all other rolls in the process are either 2d6 or the scatter die, neither of which can be rerolled).

At it's worst it gives you a poor man's 2+/3++ reroll.

it's a reroll every phase, so using it for reanimation protocol rolls is reasonable.

Better off using it to reroll a failed save (you are more likely to pass a 2+ than a 4+ and both rolls determine if he survives or not)

Also, there is a very slight chance the Chronotek will actually wound an enemy character in close combat. I had this happen ONCE in all the times my friend has fielded one, and oh my god was I pissed. Sicarius drooled on himself the rest of the game.

absolutely. My point was to stress it is every phase, so if you do come upon a circumstance where you can use it for RP, go for it.

I had my chronotek do this to a BT once in a flying circus and it was possibly the greatest moment of my RC in its history of doing the impossible
