So yeah, they just happened to open a GW store a stones throw from my house. Nice group of folks, pretty cool store. Anyway... I've been collecting (not playing) 40K for years - I like the sculpts, I like to paint and convert. I still have the old marines vs. grechhin set from the 90's sitting in my closet.

So I ended up hanging out in the store one day and tried out some actual gaming. It was great fun, even through I lost (in retrospect, I almost had him...forgot you could fire twice <12" if you didn't move). I mentioned to the guys in passing that along with a gigantic box of tyranids (~9lbs worth of plastic/metal) I also had some Sisters of Battle. I had picked these up years ago at a garage sale of all places, my daughter liked them because they were "space princesses". That caught some attention, since AS are pretty rare around here apparently. So, I want to start fielding to have something different.

I counted everything up and I have the following:

26 sisters w/ bolters
3 sisters w/ meltas
1 sister w/ flamer
2 sisters w/ standards + bolters
2 sisters with bolter + swords (are these superiors?)
1 canoness (a small piece is missing - between her forearm and icon she holds, so I converted her to holding a baner in a pissed off fashion) and combi melta/bolter IIRC
11 seraphim w/ pistols
3 heavy metlas
1 heavy bolter
1 heavy flamer
1 Immolator (old school one)
1 Saint Celestine, as soon as I finish putting her together w/ the wings conversion
1 priest - I think. Mohawk, robes - club, shotgun in one hand?
1 creepy cherub looking thing holding books. Might be unrelated, BA maybe?

*Some of the sisters have the "half mask" helmet (not sure the actual term) so I'm guessing these are part of the dominion squads?

I just want to field something where I can have some fun and roll some dice. Most of the guys I've met there - who meet regularly - are extremely laid back and into casual/fun games. Smaller, sub 1000pt fights, tend to be the norm.

So out of all of that above, is there a specific layout that would yield decent results at the 500, 800 and 1K point level? I'm still familiarizing myself with all the core rule changes for models, as well as the sisters new codex (the ebook, I have the WD one also). I don't mind picking up some more rhino's and/or immolators to kit out some of the above.

Thanks!

Don't quote me on this, but Immolator Spam is the best competitive list.

Well, the link below will take you to the tactics thread for sisters. We're a small group so pretty much all tactics etc are on that thread. Also, the new codex is only available as a digital download, the plus side is you can have it in a couple minutes instead of having to go to a store.

And for your army, you could run:

HQ
Celestine
Jacobus (the guy with the shotgun I think is Jacobus)

FA
Seraphim
Dominions in the immolater (take the melta guns and a couple girls with bolters)

Troops
15-20 girls with Jacobus (giving them a 5+ invul if he is your warlord), then a couple extra weapons for fun (maybe a heavy flamer or heavy bolter and a flamer plus a simulacrum imperialis)

10+ girls with the extra priest and some weapons (he'll make them fearless)

Tactically, you could outflank or scout the Dominions in the immolater, use the small squad with a multi melta or heavy bolter to guard your back field objective, use celestine alone or with the seraphim to wreak havoc, while the big sister squad with Jacobus can move upfield for other objectives and fun.

I assume u're talking bout rapid fire. U can shoot either a shot at max range or 2 shots at max/2 range. Having moved or not - but you can't charge afterwards unless u're relentless (which are generally models in terminator armor, bikes, slow and purposeful ones...).
U have a nice army there but sisters are just pretty hard to win with in general. To do so - you need to know their capacitiy. So you should read their rules and wh 40k 6-th edition on the whole. There are tones of rules so just take a book and if u're not sure bout something - check it.
