Librarian with Jump Pack, Plasma , Shield of Sang and Unleash Rage

2xPriest with PF/Jump Pack
1xPriest Terminator Armor

2x 10 Assault Marines, 2 meltas+PF Srgt

3x Baal with TLAC

5x TH/SS Termies

Stormraven, TLAC, TL Melta 4x Blood Missles

Furioso with 2xDCCW, melta and heavy flamer in pod

Strategy: Deploy 3 Baal + 1 Assault Squad.
Hold Librarian, Assault Squad, Dred in Pod and Stormraven in reserve

Hope for turn good turn 2 deployment in backfield. Have assault squad pop vehicles and charge or kite, depending on numbers

Terms and Dread to Hold midfield

I fully expect the BAAL's to be gone by turn 3 (if lucky), turn 2 (if not)

Hopefully second assault squad makes it to mid and grabs an objective/kills some stuff.

For BA assault lists, I like to go all out and drop all the fliers. Use pods and jumpers to overwhelm the foe.

That might be better- I'm trying this one tonight against Eldar/Draigowing, but I'll give a full-on pack list a chance.

So I guess this is my second-to-last try at assault.

Leesburg, FL

Post a battle report about your game tonight, I have a BA army collecting dust because assault is dead in 6th.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

I like this list but i would just go balls out run 1500 in DC if your going for assault and lol's there is nothing better. Run Ast a few Chaplins and Lemartes. sprinkle in a few power axes and swords all Jump Packs. Make 3-4 squads of them. If it is just for fun then your are assaulting each squad with possible sweeping advance. I done this a few times at 1500 and boarded a few times the enemy on turn 2. with your list and 3 troops you might be almost conceding objectives. Reason I'm saying this i hate depending on terms i face them all the time and over and over again I kill them with a DC. it is just so many hits and re rolls if they miss then wounds if they miss re-roll.

On a more serious note: look at an aegis defense line. Do not up grade it does not matter then gun but set it up so you can jump in and out of it. gives a little cover i sometimes deploy on in between where i'm going to do the Terran and objective to jump back and forth.

I went up against Draigowing + Corteaz + Eldar

Draigo
9ish palladins with hammers and halbreds
Corteaz

Farseer on Bike
2x5 Dire Avengers with Serpents
Eldar barrage tank

Mission: Relic

Dred/Pod, Raven and Librarian + Assault Squad in Reserve

Eldar Turn 1: He blew up a tank, damaged another and killed 1 marine.
BA Turn 1: Dred dropped in. Scattered close too close to corteaz, glanced to death.
Tanks shot, did nothing. Assault squad moved up.

Eldar Turn 2: Killed a few more marines, damaged tanks., immobilizing one. Draigo right on top of relic.
BA Turn 2: Second assault squad drops in within range of Eldar barrage tank. Miss both melta shots. Tanks do remove some hullpoints.
First assault squad keeps hopping up, takes pot shot at Draigowing, kills one guy.

Eldar turn 3: All tanks repositioned to force me to pick one to assault. Shoots my first assault squad. Picks off a few more in my second. Barrage unleashed on
massed second squad, losing one melta and some guys, plus one wound on librarian (had +4 power but couldn't cast it due to deep striking). Draigo has the relic.
BA Turn 3: Raven comes on, flies 18 inches forward. Blast at serpent- no pens, maybe 1 glancing. (TL AC, TL Melta, 2 blood missles!) Jumpers Assault 1 serpent, destroying it
(Librarian dies from gets hot). Wound a couple paladins.

Eldar Turn 4: Dire Avengers shoot at assault marines, killing a few. More shooting whittles my squad down to one. Termies glance stormraven, destroying another missile.

BA Turn 4: Solo marine tosses krak grenade- no pen. Assaults barrage tank- fails. TH/SS termies deploy from hovering raven. Raven shoots at draigowing and MISSES ALL SHOTS.
Remaining BAAL take out two front DraigowingTermies, important because TERMIES FAIL THEIR DAMN CHARGE BY 2 INCHES.

Eldar Turn 5: Farseer charges lone assault marine and kills him. Terminators shot to pieces, mostly by Dire Avengers.
BA Turn 5: Ineffectual shooting. Maybe some glances

We roll for turn 6

Eldar turn 6: Stormraven shot down. With only one vehicle left on table, I concede.

Results: Eldar: 10000000 points and crazy advantages
BA: Screwed right in the keister and -1 points because I knocked my opponents serpent off the table and we couldn't find one of the pieces (he was very gracious, I felt like an ass).

Analysis: I should have deployed my second assault squad rather than DOA to force more firing choices. I should have gotten my raven closer to utilize melta rule. Aside from that,
I did pretty much everything right. Squads were on mission all game, they just failed due to bad rolling on my part.

Several times in the game we had to stop and laugh for long periods at how bad it was going for me:
SS/TH termies shot to death by AP 4 weapons.
Raven unloading on serpent and essentially doing nothing.
Librarian dying to plasma pistol.

Several times when the rules were in question (can you hover the turn after jinking, do you measure to a flyer's wings or center of base) my opponent graciously
gave me the advantage because it was going so poorly.

Even being (essentially) tabled, it was a fun game. Bad luck happens, but I felt like I executed well. Assault armies just can't get it done.

1. Loss of 4+ FNP
2. Loss of +init on furious charge
3. Power weapon nerf

Those nerfed the BA, plus they are too expensive.

So there it is.

Great report. Now all the assaults get up become DC and smash face. I remember oo 8-9 years ago i had about 9k points of Eldar spent 2 years painting and building and they sucked so bad I gave them away to my cousin never winning a single game vs space marines ever and then bought and assembled about 15k worth of space marines wow how times have changed.
