Subject: Fortress of Redemption Questions

Hi there, I've bought the Stronghold Assault book and am seriously considering a Fortress of Redemption for my Imperial Guard Army.
Basically, I'm planning to use it as corner cover for my Artillery (Colossus, Manticore), and as a home for some Heavy Weapons Squads.
Here is how I'm planning on fitting it -
Fortress of Redemption
4 Void Shields (1 for each section)
Search-light on the tower too
Remote Fire Upgrade
Krak-storm Upgrade
4 Heavy Bolters
Quad-Gun Emplacement
6 sections of Tanglewire
3 Barricades
515pts
I don't really know much about how the fortifications play in game and so I have a few questions about it.
1. If I deploy the FOR in my deployment zone, can I deploy squads straight onto the battlements/ inside sections?
2. Considering I have remote fire which says "any of the fortification's emplaced weapons can be fired by models occupying the tower", that means the unit occupying the tower can also shoot the added Quad-Gun Emplacement, am I right?
3. Also, if I have a unit in the tower shooting the fortification's emplaced weapons, can they fire at different targets? E.g. One squad of Ratlings in the tower - considering they're manning 3 different weapons (Icarus, Silo, Quad) can they all fire at different targets?
4. If someone captures my main Tower (Jump Infantry, Deepstrike or something), can they also use the Remote Fire and use the Fortress Weapons? If so, would it be smart to have Booby Traps instead of a Searchlight for the second upgrade?
5. Any other things I might have overlooked?
Thanks in advance for all answers

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. No. Unless you have Split Fire/Fire Control or another power that explicitly lets you target other units, all shooting attacks made by a unit must be directed at the same target.
4. Kinda. They also need to control the building section the weapon is on. Specifically you can't fire the emplaced weapons of a building section that has enemy models in it. That's in it, not on it's battlements. According to the rules the battlements are a separate building section.
5. I don't think the Fortress of Redemption can buy a Weapon Emplacement. I'll have to look at my book when I get home.
Also you can only have 6 obstacles. The limit is per Fortification, not building section. Fortification Networks have several Fortifications bundled and each of those can have 6 but the FoR is a single fortification and only gets 6.
Heavy Bolters are nice. You can mount them anywhere but if you intend to only have guys in the tower that just makes it the only part the enemy needs to take out to cut down the I would suggest placing them NOT on the Tower... or the Walkway. Two on each Bunker Annex would be good.
Krakstorm upgrade is great, enough said.
The searchlight upgrade would be better placed on the Walkway. Your Fortress should not be dead center so the advantage of placing it on the tower goes away. Because it also illuminates the building section, lighting up your tower to be the only thing to shoot at is a very bad idea. And yes this means you don't put a Void Shield there. Good. If you've only got guys in the tower and maybe the two bunker annexes then you don't need one there.
This cuts 70 points of fat off the FoR. Personally I would opt for Tank Traps over Tanglewire. 4+ cover and Impassible to Drop Pods? Yes please!
Edit: Spelling mistakes.

If you have Telion or a Vindicare Assassin manning the missile silo, they can allocate all the wounds it causes as they see fit. For the Vindicare, I think they are even immune to Look Out Sir.

When you say "4 void shields" do you mean four generators that can have several shields each, or simply four shields?
Don't have my stronghold assault on me and didn't bother to read the FoR entry in it (assumed it was the same)
Either way though.... holy hell thats scary

You can't have precision shots with weapons that don't roll to hit. Unfortunately. I wanted to put Illic Nightspear in a Aquila Strongpoint and do the same thing but nope

Could I put multiple units into the tower then to shoot at different targets? As long as it doesn't go over the 20 man capacity?
Thanks for pointing out that, I thought it was per section.
Tank Traps do sound good, I'll use those.
Yes, that's a benefit

I'm pure IG, no allies or Inq Detachments. I do kinda wish the Assassins would come to IG, I've always wanted an Eversor to be a friend with Marbo lol.

Simply four shields.
Yeah, I thought that would make the FOR a brilliant firing platform for Heavy Weapons Squads.

You could, unfortunately you can't fit multiple units in the same building section. The purpose of high capacity buildings is more for Bulky, Very Bulky or Extremely Bulky models. If I'm wrong then please quote the rule because I could take advantage of this too.

Damn shame. Kinda gimps it a bit, having to fire everything at the same target but ah well.
I might just have to pay Ratling tax and put one squad in each bunker annex to fire the weaponry, and remove remote fire as well to save points. I'll probably use the CCS to fire the Quad-gun.

I'll have to check Telion, but while you are correct that Scatter weapons cannot be Precision Shots, the Vindicare Assassin's ability to allocate his own wounds does not make his hits Precision Shots. The rule just says that all wounds caused by the Assassin's shooting attacks are allocated by his controlling player.
