On the Dark Angels raven wing squads you can add a land speeder and an attack bike, it says you separate them. Can you leave the attack bike with the squad or the speeder for that matter?

I don't play DA but this is my take on it.
Vehicles can't be is the same squad as models with T value, so Speeder must be it's own squadron.
The Attack Bike may be separated or left in the squad, your choice.

I do play DA. Page 47 Ravenwing Combat Squad is clear, they are always separate.
Which is a pity, I'd love to be able to leave the attack bike attached. They're just First Blood targets atm.

Must be separate. But it's not all bad.
Having 45-55 point scoring units is an advantage that no white scar bike army has. Also they make good scout move anti-tank weapons that can threaten any vehicle and that do not waste other models fire.
This is attack bikes of course, speeders do not score, although they can still work at anti tank.

It's the only army that can take 3 scoring units in a single force org slot, so that's kind of nice.
edit: I suppose IG can too the way their regiments work, so nevermind. Still, those aren't 3+ T5 guys with 12 inch move and another 12 inch turbo boost.

White Scar bike units can take Attack Bikes and can break into combat squads.

White scars do not combat squad the same way. They can only combat squad if they have 8 bikes + attack bike.
These break down into squads of 5 and 3 + attack bike.
This is totally different that ravenwing, as in ravenwing you can combat squad at 6 bikes, and the attack bike is always separate.
Whitescar scoring bikes must cost at least 105 points, Ravenwing's cost 80 and 45.
Therefore, Ravenwing will often have more MSU scoring troops than whitescars.

The tactical flexibility of bringing a Land Speeder in the same force org slot as a scoring unit is pretty awesome.
Personally, my land speeders brought this way, as they cannot be a squadron, they tend to die if I run them with 24" or shorter ranged weaponry. What I've done is started running them with two heavy bolters and just circling around the edges and blowing up enemy troops. It's cheap (like 60 points?) for what it does.

I do similar with mine, but with typhoon missile launchers, they have an epic range then and tend to not be targeted all that commonly as all my bikes are in your face.
The ability to run attack bikes as single scoring units and as scouts is also really good. Sticking a single one in reserve and out flanking them seems to be a very effective utilisation! They've done more than their points of damage almost every game!
