While it has not been confirmed whether or not we will be seeing new Steel Legion models & Steel Legion related material, many sources suggest there will be. I'm interested in knowing what unique rules, if any do you expect to see from such a regiment? The reason I feel there is a good possibility that the Imperial Guard update will include Steel Legion material is it could very well add much needed mobility to a otherwise gunline specific army. Very rarely do I see IG players go on the offensive & push towards their opponent unless troops are deployed via vendetta or stormtrooper deepstrike. Seeing as the Steel Legion is specialized in mechanized warfare & known for their superior chimera tactics I believe its logical to assume they will have rules which support the chimera is some way or another.

Perhaps more durable chimeras, ability to move further, ability to deploy troops who can move & shoot? I have no idea. I'm just curious as to what other IG players speculate.

What are your sources on a steel legion supplement being in the works? That sounds awesome.

I'm not really sure why IG would need a mech supplement when mech lists are already one of the best choices in the codex.

Sites such as Bell of Lost Souls & Warseer have reported similar such rumors over the past few months.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but in my local meta I haven't seen Chimeras or well, any light vehicles in quite some time. Even the IG batreps I have watched as of late it is uncommon. IG armies I normally see consist of vanquisher/executioner/punisher leman russ variants, vendettas always, vulture gunship occasionally, command squad, vets, & on rare occasions griffons. The few times I have seen chimeras fielded, they are usually taken off the table within the first or 2nd turn due to their AV10 side armor or something managed to punch through its front AV12.

Perhaps I am to optimistic in that I hope each regiment will receive unique rules in the same manner which Space Marines have, but I feel the Steel Legion would certainly be a good opportunity for GW to make the IG more mobile/offensive.

That has more to do with 6th edition's nerfs to vehicles, especially transport vehicles, than mech IG not being viable. Mech IG was a dominant list for most of 5th edition, and the codex hasn't changed anything since then. If you fix normal codex Chimeras to be viable in 6th a Steel Legion supplement would be redundant.

Redundant or not, I'd expect something along the lines of allowing Chimeras to twin-link if they shoot the same target as nearby infantry squads, things like that.
