6 scoring troops (even if 5 of them are kind of weak at 5m squads
1 doom assaulty death star WITH libby and preist for Fnp and combat psyker abilities inside of storm raven with an angry Furioso on the back.
start of the game has 10 of my vehicles ON the table on turn 1 I get a furioso in a drop pod to sow somg chaos and attempt to drop a high value target then soak up fire
3 baals with scout to hopefully close in some distance for my Assault cannon spam
some long range support from my predators in the back with auto cannons and lascannons.

I have a few questions from perhaps some seasoned marine players who use storm ravens
Are the hurricane bolters worth it on the storm raven? ... as a fast skimmer/flyer.... I can fire 2 at full ballistic skill if I move plus ONE more from my power of the machine spirit... but are the hurricane bolters a bit too much for what they do and having to choose to fire my missiles... twin multi... assault cannon... etc... ?
and I seem to lack moderate range... most my weapons are 24' range or less
I think I offset them a little bit with fast vehicles, scout and tossing a lone furioso to buy time.... BUT if I dropped some maybe not so needed upgrades.... I could maybe field some range? if so what choices do I have my elites, troops, fast, heavy are all FULL so... maybe Hunter killer missiles? but a 1 off for 10 pts seems costly.... any opinions?

The hurricane bolters are definitely worth it... it makes the stormraven much more versatile to be able to mow down troops along with whatever else you want it to do. It looks good to me... the stormraven is your only anti air, correct? might want to drop a baal pred or something to get you another stormraven...

Yes, sadly aside from snap shots and TL all around it is my only anti air. I figured with the amount of TL and anti vehicle I field I may have been able to offset the flyers.
The only issue I have with Storm raven is they start in reserves. one pred wont cover the cost of another one so id have to make additional cuts
That would take away from my initial first turn and cripple the paltry amount of long range I have...
Hmm... will have to ponder. The local meta around here doesnt run flyers but doesnt mean I wont encounter more later.....
Perhaps 2nd storm raven or a scout squad behind an aegis with the anti air option.... will have to look at some list options for sure.

This looks to include mostly units I consider quality BA units. Such that those are. I don't have much experience at 2.5K, though.

Yeah I tried to figure out and weed out the models who dont statistically stand up or stick out too much, spam the awesomeness of fast vehicles and the amount of twin linked assault cannons (which believe it or not aside from range have a greater % chance to drop a land raider AND can kill more models on average per shoot phase than a las cannon) The only real non statistical gimmicky choices I have are the d-pod'd furioso and the Magna grapples. which will really rely on luck lol. I didnt want ANY units in reserve.... but... kind of had too.

Nice list. Just to be sure - those assault marines in the raven don't have jps right? Jps count as 2 models so they wouldnt fit otherwise. You get a free pod that you havent included which is why I ask.

They dont have JP's correct and then the pod is only free IF I take them in it.
current set up is the 10 man assault squad with assault load out libby and priest with power sword IN the stormraven WITH 1 of my 2 furiosos strapped to the back.

I wouldn't put anything in a Stormraven that you didn't plan on using skies of blood with.

not running it as a flyer, will be on board as a fast skimmer when it comes in from reserves also there is a VERY small chance I would deep strike it. and I am not deep striking 6 units with JPS from a storm raven. for a multitude of reasons. Lacks wound soak, 10 assault marines without JPS are better than 5 with, PLUS allows me to run the libby and the priest with them furthering not only their survival but their combat damage as well with w pwr weapons and a force weapon AND FnP. SO them disembarking wont be a big deal.
IF you use that rule it counts as them deep striking... AND states they may not assault the turn they come out.... WHY would I remove HALF my squad... fnp and a power weapon ON top of removing their ability to assault when they bust out?

Tthe Stormraven has lost DS, I think. Also, you must move the model completely on to the board. For Vendettas and SRs, that means 9" of movement.
Also, SRs in hover mode have a tendency to die very quickly, just as they did in 5th.

ok but is there a rule im missing that makes skies of blood of any use?
I have to take the JP models which as stated above ruins that squad...
Storm raven IS an assault vehicle... so with that IF i run a WAAC mind set... I can disembark and place models as far as 2" from SR Hull THEN new disembark rule allows 6" movement AND ability to shoot and assault... thats 10-20" (max) assault range.... but you say take 6 jump models and use skies of blood rule why? thats all im asking skies of blood MAKES them unable to assault even though its an assault vehicle... which means BEST case scenario I assault turn 3.
Also with the amount of anti air IF they popped my flyer and it falls EVERY unit takes str10 hit if not mistaken (dont have my rule book) also ap1... so thats dead models all around vs if I take it as skimmer mode IF its popped I only take str4.... on my models inside....
I am just curious as to what could possibly benefit me to run it with 6 jp models and use skies of blood for an assault squad..... when I can run 10 models...better equipped for assault and survival AND possibly assault the turn they come out...as rare as that would be it still allows the chance.

You can't assault the turn you arrive from reserves. Ever.
So turn 3 is the best assault you can ever do from the Stormraven. You might as well zoom and drop off where you want to go before you get shot down riding in the thing.

I couldnt disagree more with taking 6 jps guys over 10 with fnp and better assault. I really cant see any positive in that period more so if I take it as a flyer and they get popped statistically I lose them all.
im not trying to argue or sound rude... I just dont see how statistically or functionally that could be useful for my assault squad.
even if I cant assault on turn 2 because they come in from reserves....(assuming they did)
I think id rather keep them in the storm raven for one more turn giving them an armor 12 shield and delivering them on point to where I want them. if they get shot from afar so be it but taking the crash and burn damage from a flyer on the 6 less effective models AND my furioso.. vs taking regular tank destroyed damage on my 13 models... and having potential to get them to nearby objective point is safer.
IF I were to run a JP BA list I would do that and just run 60 with jump packs. and have them all over the field. but 6? nah doesnt go with the Baal set up.

The Stormraven is a deathtrap. HP 3 AV 12 is not that hard to shoot down, even as a flyer.
Ideally, the Stormraven should be used to transport *shooty* models with fairly short range and then drop them via skies of blood where they are needed.
Using the Stormraven as an actual assault transport is difficult and dangerous and usually not worth it.

Agreed on the fact it would be better for a shooty squad... if a shooty squad had JPs.... which seems like an insane points wasting choice.....
and IF I ran a tac squad, however I dont.
agreed it is a high value target and if they dont focus fire on it they are not thinking properly.
Plan is to use all the models I have on turn one to eliminate as many anti tank threats as I can
THEN run that SR down the heart or at a big target. Unload what firepower I can
drop off the squad on a viable assault phase (if I cant assault turn from reserves is fine, ill wait, allowing me more distance if its still alive)
regardless of its use (which very well may be replaced with land raider and dropping 1 furioso allowing me more points for say another predator MIGHT just have to happen.
BUT current set up there is less than 0 chance I would take 6 JP models over my assault squad and using "skies of blood" for the mentioned squad.
I love the SR both model and versatility... but a huge argument can be made as why not just take a LR at same points (with assault squad -jp bonus) Which may have to happen. PLUS being able to be on field turn 1 with the LR....
I just like how the SR has a lot more unit shredding capability AND long range coverage with blood missiles AND storage capacity of 12 PLUS a Dready
I think ill run both and see which does better on average. heck maybe run em both in a 3k we will see.

You sure? i thoguht they get a dedicated transport for -35 points. Then you would get a drop pod. Then you dont put them in the drop pod.
Unless it specifically says, dedicated transport at -35 points only if there in it. which im pretty sure it doesn't.

yes they have to use the drop pod if they take it. it has to be used as a DT. cant just fire an empty drop pod. CAN however combat squad them and put 5 in there and 5 elsewhere.
BUT for instance I couldnt take a drop pod as a DT for that troop NOT use it and give it to my furioso dread.
the DT they select MUST be used by them.
