Where can I get the best value for green stuff (or a similar product that does the same job)? I found some on eBay called Blue/Yellow and it was in a plastic roll. It went for $14.24 for 3.5 oz. Is that a good value? Is it good stuff? I don't really scuplt with it, just use it for modeling. I have two big projects ahead: a Phantom titan and a Revenant Titan. Is green stuff the best to use for it? I heard people talk about milliput. What is it? Thank you.

Milliput is ANOTHER form of putty used by sculptors and modellers.

It tends to cure harder, and give a better defined "edge".
GS tends to be used for curves or softer edges (like fabric).
There's also brownstuff which has different properties again.

The roll of 36" I bought a couple of years ago came from the manufacturer (Polymeric Systems Inc) who GW buy from and repackage. Gale Force 9 and several others also have their own packaging for the blue-yellow stuff, and some is packed in separate cyclinders with no intermixing.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Check with your nearby plumbing supply house for 2 part epoxy putty. Has different names but usually comes in a tube, brown in color, with two different shades that must be kneaded together like the GW stuff. Costs about the same as GW for about ten times as much.

Plumbing supply epoxy putties are much cheaper, but generally cure too quickly to really be sculpted and often have a rather coarse, grainy texture (at least compared to modeling putties) - I would only use them for roughing out larger forms that will receive subsequent detail sculpting or filling structural gaps in hidden areas. Even if you're just filling gaps, I'd want to test a particular brand first to make sure that I could smooth what little would be seen.

As chromedog says, most hobby brand GS offerings are just repackaged products, usually with an accompanying bump in price. Blue/Yellow is the original (made by Polymeric Systems, who does sell it directly under the Kneadatite name). I think the 3.5oz tube is a good buy - no wasted material, like the ribbons (cured chunks at the seam between the strips), and enough to keep you sculpting, gap-filling, etc. for quite some time (doesn't sound like much, by weight, but the two sticks are about 3.5" long and roughly the diameter of a nickel - that's a decent amount of putty). I see it list for anywhere from ~$13 to $20, so $14.24 isn't a bad find.

Personally, I would use GS over Milliput for your intended projects. Milliput has two main advantages: First, it can be thinned with water, making something like potter's slip than can be painted on to resurface slightly rough areas. Second, the harder cure allows for abrasive finishing. If you only plan to use epoxy putty for gap-filling and/or as an adhesive adjunct, GS will likely serve you better.

I like using apoxie sculpt. It's a two part epoxy that comes by the pound and is much more reasonable in price
