Why do people keep saying this like it somehow invalidates the AS codex? I've even seen some people saying that it"doesn't count". Digital though it may be, it's a still a perfectly valid codex.

It's the same thing we've gotten for the last 13 years... 'Speak for yourself, White Dwarf Codex user...'

I don't think they mean it invalidates the AS codex. More than likely it is about availability that makes it not as accessible. I really would prefer a paper codex so as long as it is digital I really don't have a new codex (at least until it is printed). However if someone showed up for a game using the digital codex on a ipad, I wouldn't have any qualms with it. No invalidation at all.

Yeah it's perfectly valid. And every other army gets a physical book accompanied by models.

I think it's bull what they've done with the Sister of Battle codex. Print the damn thing already.

Except for Inquisition.

You're not wrong, Manchu, but this is the same state of affairs that we are always in. So for us, a digidex is business as usual.

To be fair, we haven't had a full printed codex since 2nd edition. If you count C:WH, then it's been 10 years since we had a new printed book (I don't really count that as a full SOB dex, but it does count as a dex).

Not an army; alternatively, Codex GK.

Especially considering we have printed supplements on Iyanden, the Farsight Enclave, and the Black Legion so far.

I still look forward to those rumored plastic sisters with the optional veils that you could put on their face...I am beginning to think GW executives hate women. The closest thing I got to an all female army is nids...lol

The digidex disagrees as it can be played as a full army.

It is disappointing that they haven't gone full print yet. I keep hoping though.

There's always one in the works, I'm sure. It is just when is it going to come out...

By that logic, the Tyranid book is one HQ choice away from containing a Genestealer Cult army.

Right, so it's still an update. So what pretre said about the Sisters just getting a book was perfectly valid.

I'd say that it's very accessible. Moreso than a physical book, even, since you don't have to go anywhere or wait for it to come in the post to acquire it. But it is less visible for not being in GW shops, so new players might not know about it at first.

Apparently Cruddace said that they were probably going to do a physical release if it sold well, so hopefully that'll happen at some point. Because it did indeed sell well.

More less accessible due to personal preference then. I know i am a loser for saying it, but i prefer physical books. My buddies give me a hard time for sticking to physical game discs as well.

I prefer physical books for play and pdfs / digital for research (since I can use them at work). You're not a loser or weird for preferring physical. Heck, the first thing I did with the digidex is figure out how to print it.

As for physical game discs, I hate those.

Yeah, I definetely feel the same way. Physical books arejust more straightforward, IMO. I was just talking in terms of actually acquiring the thing.

This sure is SRS BSNS, huh?

All I meant -- as already clarified -- was that SoB get treated differently from every other army. What are you on about?

For sure. In your defense I don't think i was very clear originally though. Digital codexes are way more accessible. My preference just gets in the way. I don't think i am unreasonable either. Who else loves a worn book that with just a flip of the pages you can turn to the page you were looking for? I just cant go through a digital codex like that. Of course when siri can take a voice command "termagant page now!" And can bring it up in a milla section then maybe i will bend...after all she already calls me master....

Sure it does. If we define army by what meets the FOC requirements, all we need is a Genestealer HQ option. That's the only sense in which "the Inquisistion" is an army.

Well thats good news! (Actually i hate discs too. Prefer cartridges now that i think about it. Something about getting dust up my nose...)

Except the Inquisition exists and allows you to field an army using the rules in the Inquisition Codex. (They get their own FOC and can meet normal FOC with Coteaz anyways.)

The Genestealer book doesn't exist and doesn't allow you to field a Genestealer cult army. Even if there was one HQ choice in the Tyranid book for them, it still wouldn't be a Genestealer cult army.

Oh yeah I totally forgot that exists. Because there was no book or model releases.

Also, you can have a genestealer cult army made of nothing but genestealers. It's just the earliest or latest stages of the cult.

Which reminds me, rumors in OP say nothing about wave releases. People who make up rumors should at least try to account for wave releases.

And, you know, if you don't have a tablet in the first place then you're slightly buggered.

You can always edit it down and print it off, though I've heard that that's still a bit of a pain.

When Pretre said that the Sisters just got a book, your response appeared to me like it was implying that the update was somehow invalid for being digital. But if that's all you meant, then okay. Nobody is disagreeing with that.

Nah, it's obviously "valid" as rules. But we all know what a "real" release is like.

Amusingly enough, I don't think Sisters have ever gotten one of those since I started playing them. And I started playing right after the 2nd edition book came out (right before 3rd).
