I'm still new to the game and I'm a little confused about flat out. I know bikers can move 12", then flat out for another 12" for a total of a 24" movement. Can Trukks do the same thing? I've been reading conflicting things over the internet about Trukk movement.
example 1:
Trukk moves 6", then an additional 6" as a flat out movement.
example 2:
Trukk moves 12", then an additional 12" as a flat out movement.
Which statement is actually true? 12" or 24"? The Trukk's unit type is "Vehicle (Fast, Open Topped)" so my assumption is that I can flat out for 24". I am also unsure if Trukks get a Jink save.

Actually, the red truck can move 13". That is the RPJ rule in the Ork Dex. Otherwise trukks flat out as listed under fast vehicles, page 83 BRB.

Thanks for the page number. I see that I can move at cruising speed, 12", then either shoot the trukk's Big Shoota or move flat out for another 12". I just want to get this straight:
I can shoot with both the passengers and the vehicle itself up to a movement of 12 inches, unless I flat out up to another 12 inches.

If you move more than 6" or 7" with red paint then the boyz can only shoot snap shots and cannot disembark.
The vehicle and the passengers are two separate units and may fire at different targets.
Pretty much all Ork Transports are open topped, so unless you move more than 6 inches or 7 with red paint the boyz can disembark 6 inches, shoot their assault weapons, and then charge.
If you don't wish to disembark, then the trukk can move 12" or 13 with red paint, the passengers can shoot snap shots, and then the vehicle can move flat out.
Reinforced Ram is a good upgrade for an Ork Trukk as well due to it being a fast vehicle you can hit at up to str 8 I think, orks like to ram things.

No Str 8 hits for Trukks.
+1 Str per 3" moved, +2 for Reinforced Ram. That's Str 6 on a 12" movement.
EDIT: A Battlewagon can deal up to a Str 10 hit with either a Ram moving at the full 12" or a Deffrolla at any distance.

Ah right, I don't take trukks with my boyz. If anyhting they are just something I park my lootas in to get a 1/3 chance of saving a turn of shooting on them with Ramshackle.
Trukks just straight up die in 6th, don't hold enough boyz to do anything useful, and it's unlikely your nob will live to do any damage through a challenge anyway.
Battlewagons w deffrollaz and nob bikers work better.

My plan is to run 5 or 6 Trukks next to Nob Bikers and/or a Deffrolla. HQs being a Biker Boss and a KFF Big Mek. I know footslogging is better but I want to be able to play Speed Freaks as well.

Yeah, target saturation. I just found that against some armies in 6th like Tau and Eldar they simply don't have a problem downing all your trukks by turn 2 and then mopping up the boyz the turn after.
YMMV.

If the passengers fire, the vehicle may not move flat out, as per the rulebook FAQ, page 7, second column, 6th question.

Void Shields are pretty nifty for a trukk list
And Orks don't stack up at top levels of tournaments, which is where you'll find all that Eldar and Tau that will destroy speed freeks along with every other ork build. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I've been playing orks since 3rd edition and I always thought you could move 12 or 13 with (RPJ) and disembark but I guess I can see with the 6 inch disembark (rather than the old 2 inch) the taking of the 6 inches away of trukk movment
Can you tell me which page of the rulebook states that though ? as page 71 is vehicle's but in previous rules fast vehicle's had different rules for assault So the only benefit of a trukk over a rhino in a assault is the open top assault instead of exit points ?
kinda goes against all previous incarnations of the rules
