Just played my first couple of games with a friend. Really enjoyed it, even with just the ships in the core set.

One question that quickly came up was can you fire if your ship has a stress token? I initially assumed not (which is how we played the first game), but the rules state that stress prevents you from performing "actions". It doesn't make any reference to stress affecting combat.

Which is correct?

Yes you can still shoot if you have a stress token, actions like focus, evade, barrel role, and target lock can not be performed unless you pilot abilities say other wise.

This may be confusing if you're used to GW games, but in X-Wing rules mean exactly what they say. So, actions are a specific type of thing that you do (focus, evade, etc) using the "action" designation (focus action, evade action, etc). Since the term "action" has a specific rule meaning it does not refer to the general concept of "do a thing with your ship". Spending a focus token is not an action, using a triggered ability like gunner or pilot Luke is not an action, making an attack is not an action, etc.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Yes, rules are surprisingly well written and clear cut. That was my only point of confusion so far.
