I like it on the stern go 5 grav on 2 and one plasma 5, leave the taqs with melta, rember gravs get two shots which is really good, which means ten shots which will be more useful then 5 melta shots

A single StormTalon is not going to provide you with enough anti air. It probably would not be able to down even a single helldrake in less than 3 rounds by which time the damage done to your army could be catastrophic.
I greatly prefer plasma to grav guns on anything but bikes, you get the same number of shots but much better anti armor options from plasma.
Otherwise I like it allot.

Well, there are two Stormtalons. One has the Las, one the Skyhammer.
So, what I am getting is that the Combi weapons would be one thing to change up.
I am going to buy enough to do a bunch of any combo and see what works best, I suppose.
Plasma has the drawback of being Gets Hot! while Grav is less good against armor. I think a lot depends then on my meta.

Any more input? I am going to be ordering some Combi weapons, but am just about ready to start building. Any tweaks? Anything useful I could add?

How many shots does a Marine get with the Grav weapons assuming he moved? Bikes and Centurions work well with them but unsure if Plasma isn't a better option.
Grab is also poor against light armor troops, not just against vehicles. Having a few in your list isn't game breaking but food for thought.
The rest I like.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

So Pedro and 28 Sternguard all in DPs is good taking full advantage of their strengths. The 3 plasma + 3 melta squads are good as you combat squad and hit 2 units hard.
The grav squad I don't get. You're popping your combis when you arrive right? So that's 2 shots from grav or plasma but plasma has a 12" range rather than a 9" range and has a wider variety of targets that it is use full against. For these reasons I would swap them over to plasma, leave Grav for relentless or static platforms.
I don't get the lascannon Storm talon as it is more points than the Skyhammer and worse at its job. Drop it and the meltabombs on the assault squad and you can get 2 more combiplasmas for the squad with Pedro that unit now pumps out 14 AP2 shots when it arrive .
Over all looks very strong though. Beware Tau.

Be prepared to play defensively against Tau. If you try your typical alpha strike gambit against intercepting Riptides and Broadsides, you won't have much left except the drop pods they came in.

Would deploying and letting empty pods come in work better against Tau? I figure that won't be fun, but I am not looking to win any big events. This is all for local semi-competitive events.

I would change the Stormtalon's lascannon to a skyhammer and use the points saved to give more Sergeants melta bombs. Agree with the others that combi grav on a non-relentless unit is a waste.

That has as much Plasma as I could cram into it - and god knows that worked for me in 5th with my Guard, I can't imagine it won't be painful for most people (those without a lot of gross Interceptor units, at least). I have the option in this to split off two anti-tank Sternguard squads, still. I know some talk in my area is a return to AV14 and the use of some Superheavies (including a Rev Titan), so it doesn't hurt having some way to swamp armor in AP1 shots.
The twin Talons with Skyhammers should be enough air defense, I would hope. The TL Las was to help mitigate Helldrakes, but since I am magnetizing them, its a matter of tweaking to taste later on.
Thoughts on the revised list?

Looks just about perfect. Wouldn't change anything. As a heads up be AV12 (e.g. Helldrakes) the Sky hammer averages 0.67 HPs down a turn whilst the twinlinked lascannon averages 0.59 so even then the Skyhammer is the better bet. Yes you have an increased chance to pen (0.444 vs 0.333) but given the cost difference the Skyhammer is hastily the superior option and against AV11-10 the story just gets better for the Skyhammer.

Well, now for the fun part - building it. Got everything, just waiting on a few FW tidbits to arrive.
