I tried looking up in the directory for a thread on this question but couldn't find one so.. if I had a flamer and shot the template weapon at a raider wit night shields would I be able to? How does the 6" range reduction affect the template or does it at all? Thanks to whoever can answer this question

Yea that's what I think to but then there are those who say that because there is no range on the flamer as it is a template then technically it becomes 0" so it can't shoot... so what do you think about that counter argument?

Except there is a range on the flamers. It's the template marker.
And you're not going to cut 6" off the marker, are you?

Yea that's another one of my points as well... I wish they would faq this question because it's not like it's not impossible to happen

It is impossible. It will never come up due to the wording of night Shields. Read the very last sentence for why it is a non-issue.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I will review the rules later today, when I am at the Library, but I am positive I will find that the template is used instead of the traditional range measurement, so any reduction to range during measurement would be irrelevant.

The entry for Night Shields specifically states that it has no effect on Template or Barrage weapons.

As Happyjew and oraj say:

pg 63, Night Shields entry, last sentence
"Night shields have no effect on template or barrage weapons..."

No FAQ is necessary.
