Hello everyone,

Firstly I apologise if this is the wrong forum to post this in but I think I got the right one .
I recently picked up wargaming after a friend showed it to me and bought some stuff on recommendation of shop workers and friends.
Now when I started putting together my models and found out some can be assembled differently.

My friends decided that 750 points was a good army cost to start with so I am here to ask for help as to what my 750 army would look like.

Here is what I have currently:

I will mention if I assembled the model already or not so you know what can be put on what (I hear points cost differ as how you assemble them)

1 x Tyranid Hive tyrant / The Swarmlord (not yet assembled, visually inclined towards Swarmlord)

1 x Tyranid harpy / hive crone (not yet assembled, like both visually so no preference)

10 x Tyranid gargoyles (not yet assembled)

1 x Battleforce containing:
16 x Termagaunt with fleshborer (assembled)
16 x Hormagaunt (assembled)
8 x Genestealer (not yet assembled)
3 x Warrior (not yet assembled)
3 x Ripper swarm (not yet assembled)

I am willing to buy some extra models but nothing to big as I have spend enough before playing a proper game already

I hope this is enough information to get some help with a army list.

Thank you all in advance.

You certainly picked the worst time to get into nids... Their new codex came out and the army is horrible now...

And the same was said about the Tau, Eldar, and Daemon codex...and look where they are now.

Though I have no experience with playing nids I do play against them a lot. MC and swarms of bodies have been my bane because I simply don't have enough shots.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Don't listen to the haters - Tyranids are cool as hell.

I don't play them myself, but I'm bored so I took a crack at a basic list using only the models you have. As far as lists I've seen on this forum it's not especially competitive, but I think it's a start of a nice core of troops for a larger army.

Hive Tyrant - wings, 2x twin-linked brainleech devourer (12 s6 shots? yes please. don't know if the tyrant kit comes with wings though)
16x termagants - fleshborers
16x hormagaunts - scything talons
8x genestealers - rending claws
3x warriors - scything claws & deathspitters
Hive Crone - drool cannon, four tentaclids, scything talons

is 746 points

One weakness I can see right off the bat is synapse... a smart opponent will shoot the warriors first thing. Maybe screening them with the other units will give them a better chance at living?

As for models you could buy to improve the army, Monstrous Creatures and other synapse creatures are the way to go. Carnifexes and zoanthropes seem to be the popular choices.

Don't be such a debbie downer. Maybe they won't be winning the next GT (maybe they will) but that shouldn't stop a casual gamer from picking them up if they like them.

You are right about synapse being their Achilles heel. At such low points games maybe you can work it out with your opponent to ignore the requirement. Otherwise you will have to be very careful with those warriors. i also feel a hive crone may not be worth the points at this point level.

Also, from what I understand, one pair of scything talons (if that is an upgrade) is not worth it on your warriors because you need two pairs for 1 extra attack. So if you paid for those, don't.

i think outflanking those genestealers will be tricky. If they show up too early then they are toast. you really want them to get into cc AFTER the gaunts are in the opponent's face.

Scything talons are stock, they're not a costed upgrade.

What about spamming biovores to thin the opponent's ranks before rushing across the board? Low point games like this don't usually have too many troops loaded in dedicated transports. Tau and Eldar transports are too expensive at this point level and unless you are playing a jerk that min maxed his marines to fit scouts and a landraider, they may only have a rhino chassis or two.
