Ok, so while browsing the BoLS, i stumbled onto the Creature Caster kickstarter . I really like the models they show, but i'm not entirely sure how kickstarters work. I've never given to one before, but i'd really be interested in this one. Can anyone with experience with kickstarters tell me how they work? I get that it's crowd-sourcing startup funds for certain ventures, but if you help them out do you receive, say, one of those models for your contribution?

**Edit** Just learned that this is being started up by the same guy who brought us Ultraforge minis...so if this takes off I'm sure we can expect a lot of beautiful models.

Second part of my questions, Which model do you guys like more to represent a Keeper of Secrets? They both seem like they'd scale well with my custom Lord of Change and my FW Great Unclean One (i prefer to use the larger models for my greater daemons, since i think their size better represents the power and grandeur of a daemon lord).

Arushnee

or

Belshazu

Gotta be honest, while i know its not the 'traditional' Slaaneshi look, i'm leaning towards Belshazu right now... But i'd still like to know what most of Dakka thinks. If i used Arushnee, id be doing more of a traditional looking Slaaneshi detachment, but if i used Belshazu, i think he'd really befit an army themed around Pride instead of Lust.

Thanks guys.

Wow. All of those models are great! Now I want to use on of them as a greater deamon too!
That would be my first Kickstarter too, I have no idea how they work.

I have just finished my first kick starter and the only annoying thing is how long they take. Besides this its a s easy as reading the whole thing, clicking on the option you want, and when it is complete they charge your account. Then when the models are done they get sent out.

Mine is at the final stage of waiting for the casts to come back, expecting mine in febuary (pledges in november, payed in december) so its a long process

KS work by you giving them money, and in exchange for money, they might give you a prize in return.

KS is *not* an online shopping service.
KS is *not* guaranteed to work out as described.
KS is *not* beholden to shipping you anything promised within a reasonable time-frame. I donated to the TGG KS in the middle of last year, and will not get my models for another 4 months or so.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

To me, the second one is more overtly demonic if that's what you're going for, and very similar to an awesome piece of WFB artwork with a Bret champion facing down a bull-headed KOS. So that style is perfectly in line with the other aspects of Slaneesh, you're in the clear there.

Ah...an optimist! If I have all of my TGG models in four months, I'll be ecstatic.

The aforementioned TGG KS was my first one, greg. It was pretty illuminating. People seem to have some wildly differing opinions about what Kickstarter IS, so here's the facts.

The company outlines a pledge. You pay the money you want to pay. Through KS communication channels, you get a varying degree of communication with the creators, and a varying degree of input. (This is going to vary from creator to creator.) Optimally, there will be 'stretch goals,' additional add-ons to the project that will only be achieved if certain above-and-beyond financial benchmarks are met. After the end of the KS, you will wait a varying amount of time before receiving your product.

There is always the risk that you will lose your money (although KS does their best to try to minimize this risk) due to accidental project collapse or intentional thievery, but as I understand it there are avenues in place to get your money back from a project even after you've pledged. (You can always withdraw your pledge, but during the TGG KS, someone mentioned that you can open proceedings with KS to get your money back even after the end date.)

Welcome to the Freakshow!

Well, since this is brought to us by someone who's already had a successful launch with Ultraforge minis, and since news of this kickstarter is blowing up on BoLS, I will definitely be biting at the bit waiting for Feb 1st.

While the second one looks better, he does not look very slanashy...

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
