I’ve always loved The Three Musketeers so I was pleased to see a new, moderately big budget adaptation on the BBC.
Impressions of the first episode.
At first it seemed a bit “american”, but it improved as things went on and I really enjoyed it overall.
The locations and sets are great. The script does well to combine a flavour of the times with some modern quips without being jarring.
The cast is really good! By the end of the first hour, the actors playing the four musketeers and the Cardinal have already become their characters for me.
I hope they can vary the locations without losing quality. It was alright to set a lot of scenes in snowy forests this episode. That can't be the way of the future or it will become like quarries in Doctor Who.
I did enjoy it. I was expecting it to be meh, but it's good end of the weekend TV. The only problem is it reminds me of Dogtanian and the muskehounds, so that's now in my head...

And sometimes, it's just a case of too much scotch combined with too many buttons...

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I saw the ads and was looking forward to it with cautious optimism.
