Ive come here for years but just recently got into playing 40k with a buddy of mine. Thought I would finally join up because I always have loved the gallery here. Anyway ive played tabletop games all of my life(board games, rpgs,Magic) but about six years ago I got into miniature war games. Im now just coming around to 40k. Ive never wanted to drop the cash on the game but all of my other armies in my other games(Warmachine, Malifaux, etc.) are all caught up. As a miniature gamer you know you always need something new to paint and it looks like GW games will keep busy for a while. Anyway I hope to enjoy my time here. Thanks again!

Haha yeah I blame it on one of my work buddy. He really wanted to try Warmachine and I only need a gentle push when it comes to table top games. He played 40k when he was a kid and wanted to try something new. Had he suggested 40k I probably would have gone along with it. We have been playing lots of different games but he was anti GW other than Necromunda. Another buddy wanted to try 40k and that was all it took for me. A Dark Angels starter, Assault Starter and a rule book was what I got next. Now there isnt enough battle reports or images online to keep me busy. I really need a gaming group thou since the buddy I was playing with moved to Florida recently.

What part of Chicago you from? There are some killer stores opening up in the area as well as some old favorites.

Im in Portage Park so the North West side near the Irving Park blue line. Any suggestions? I know dice dojo is in town but kinda a hike for transit.

Is Next Dimension closer to you? Up North on Clark http://nextdimensiongames.com/

If you are by the blue line it may be easier to hit the Gaming Goat in Oak Park, although that is of course a journey heading that West for you. Good store though.

If you are the driving type I would recommend just popping up north to Games Plus as that place has everything ever made. http://www.games-plus.com/

Of the stores mentioned Games Plus is the closest to me and I love that place! Ive been going for years but have not ever seen a Warhammer community. As long as ive gone its been a Warmachine store. Maybe its because I only go Saturday mornings. Lol. I may check out the other two stores but if I can get some games in at G+ I will. Thanks for the help.

Well i got about 1700 points of Dark Angels. Mainly what ive been playing.

900 points of Orks basically the Assault starter,a box of bikes and a box of Lootas.

40 IG Catachan, 6 heavy weapons teams, a Leman Russ and a Commissar.

The Chaos from the Dark Vengeance starter which im probably gonna use the Cultists for Penal Legion or Necromunda.

Yeah so im not sure what to focus on but its probably gonna be Imperial.
