So I am pretty excited. I just found this bad boy on e-bay and picked it up for $30 (US).

Spoiler:

I didn't even know it existed before I saw it. And then I got to thinking about some other sets that they used to make. I actually think the older, metal Venerable Dreadnought was a pretty cool looking model. While most new stuff looks way better than the old stuff (i.e. orks and dark eldar) there are a few things, like this kit, that is really not old, just not made anymore. So, what kits do you like that are not in production anymore?

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

The old Sternguard models; the plastics are cool and all but the finecast/metal Sternguard are some of the best models GW has ever made.

The 3rd edition Tyrant Guard; I dunno, they looked really cool with the shields and the upright posture.

Older Flayed Ones; once again, new ones are nice but the older ones are better.

They still show up on GW’s site for me, not sure which one you are talking about. There are advantages of the single sculpt (as opposed to multi-part) kits, and I like some of the old vets better then what can be made from the van/sterngaurd kits. But the new plastic veterans are very nice IMHO.

From a personal standpoint, I’d like some more old metal terminators. Mostly because I’d like to fill out my assault squad to 10 men. There are also some select RT models I’d not mind haveing.

If they did a retro-re-release of RTB01, I’d probably grab one. They’d probably charge $100 for it though.

Plastic sisters of battle.

"But melissia, they were never released!"

Well that just shows how old they freaking are, considering we've had talk from high-ranking GW employees about plastic sisters for almost ten years.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

They're supposed to be androgynous but sexually alluring, yet the models are simply just ugly imo.

B-b-but boobs! I agree though, the last iteration of Daemonettes was much better than the current "leather and hair spray" versions.

They technically still make it. It's simply the Command Squad box with the BT chapter upgrade kit all rolled into 1 box.

Spoiler:

While the old terminators looked awful, these guys were simply aweosme. They looked original and their armor looked like it was seriously warped by Chaos. I do still love current chaos space marine armor (like those in Dark Vengeance), but the old guys just had an awesome feel to them. I'd happily buy them up and it's a shame I didn't get into W40K when they were made. Although I do admit they could use modernized love. The minis look unique, but FW could really do some awesome (true) resin detailed models.

(I particularly adore their helmets and backpacks.)

The Grey Slayers boxes set and the Wulfen from the short lived 13th Company line, sure the Grey Slayer box was just the Grey Hunter and Chaos Box mixed, but still so cool looking.

2nd editions screamer killer style Carnifex. Those things looked scary as hell when they were charging you down on the table top.

I also prefer the 2nd edition terminators, and metal dreadnoughts as opposed to the current plastic ones. They sort of lost something in the plastic conversion all though they look very similar. In the case of the terminators, I think it is the wider leg stance since moving on to the larger bases.

I also prefer the metal grey knight terminators to the plastic ones.

I have to say I do like the old Tyrant Guard, I've got 6 of them, but the new ones fit the 'Nid aesthetic more.

Much prefer the 3rd Ed Tyrant too.

Unless you are talking about the OLD metal dreads, the modern plastics are actually quite similar. While the basic one could be re-cut to more efficiently use sprue space, the dread kits are some of my favorite ones these days.
