Im looking for some help and advice on which models I need to take what I have into 1850. Atm this is the usual list I run with(1000pt)

HQ
CCS - Chimera, Meltagun x3, Carapace - 165

Troops
Veterans - Chimera, Meltagun x3, Grenadier - 185
Veterans - Chimera, Meltagun x3, Grenadier - 185
Veterans - Chimera, Meltagun x3, Grenadier - 185

Fast Attack
Vendetta - 130

Heavy Support
Leman Russ Battle Tank - 150

I want to take what I have and make a competitive list. But I want some advice before I spend more money.

The models I have:
55+ Standard lasgunners
10+ Special Weapons
3 Lascannon teams
3 ML teams
3 Leman Russ
1 Vendetta/Valkyrie
4 Chimeras
Creed
Strakken
6 Sanctioned Psykers
1 Primaris Psyker
Regimental Advisors
2 Commisars
1 Lord Commisar
Marbo(Of course)
Some random Cadians(Flag bearers etc, Medic)

I have a little more but cant think off the top of my head.
Im wanting to take the models I have and make them into a competitive-ish list(1850)
I have some money around £50 to purchase any models neccasary to bulk up my list.
Thanks in advance

Edit: I also have a AGL

Well, just adding to the list you already have, here's where I'd suggest going:

Use some of your lasgunners and special weapons to get in a 20-30 man platoon, preferably with Lascannons, to hold an objective and add some long-range firepower. Put them behind an ADL for defence, and you've got a nice firebase going on.

I'd also swap the basic Russ for a Las-plas Vanquisher or a bolter-boat exterminator (or both, if you feel like it). Both are more specialised than the standard Russ, have more firepower, and excel at their chosen roles rather than being a jack-of-all, master-of-none that the LRBT is.

If you're looking to add something new, then how about a Hellhound? It would work nicely with the vets and give you more anti-infantry firepower. Failing that, some artillery would be nice, such as a pair of Griffons or a Medusa.

I don't have time to throw up a list right now, but I hope this gives you some ideas.

1) Upgrade the LRBT to a useful variant.

2) Add a cheap objective camping platoon behind an ADL (you probably have most/all of the models already).

3) Add two more Vendettas or punisher cannon Vultures.

4) Add some earthshakers and/or thudd guns.

5) Add a Shadowsword.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

A Platoon behind an ADL with Quad could be good. It provides a guaranteed Cover save to your Russ, which is nice. As a sit'n'shoot tank, adding Camo to it gives you a MEQ Cover save, on top of super tough AV's. Put some infantry between the Aegis and the Russ, to prevent assault. If you put enough space around your Russ, you can keep enemies outside of Melta Range, and then you're rocking super high armour with a great cover save, and no realistic way to be assaulted... not invulnerable, but close.

The plan works a little more efficiently if you have more than one sit'n'shoot tank to hold back. A compromise could be to put a command squad in a spare Chimera. Not really as good, but not a terrible way to boost long ranged firepower.

An ADL is pretty cheap, and comes with a Quad, which can help with flyers and other "softer" targets.

I recently bought 2 Hellhounds to throw up before I go Nottingham. Im unsure on the variants which work best with the Leman Russ.

Im going to play a 1850 game, and Im unsure on what would be effective with the models I have. Any chance anyone gets to help me with this. PM me or just post it on this thread:-) all feedback is appreciated

Regarding Hellhounds, I'm not sure about synergy with the Russ, but the Hellhounds themselves work nicely with the meltavets, as you get more anti-horde firepower that mech lists can be lacking.

As for a 1850 list, and assuming from your first post that you like tanks, here goes:

CCS, 4x plasma: 110
Chimera: 55

Infantry platoon:
PCS, 4x flamers: 50
PIS, lascannon: 70
PIS, lascannon: 70

Veterans, 3x melta: 100
Chimera: 55

Veterans, 3x melta: 100
Chimera: 55

Veterans, 3x plasma: 115
Chimera: 55

Marbo: 65

Leman Russ Vanquisher, Lascannon, 2x Plasmacannon: 210

Leman Russ Exterminator 3xHB: 170

Vendetta: 130

2x Hellhounds: 260

ADL: 50

This leaves you 130 points to play with, so you could add another infantry squad and LC, buy another Vendetta for more anti-flier, or a PBS for a little psychic fun.

The plan is pretty simple. Throw the PCS in the Vendetta and drop out and burn something, hopefully off an objective. Have the Platoon take Lascannon potshots at any threats, hopefully with BID from the CCS. Keep the Chimeras back as a defensive tool or go for a 'cavalry charge' as needed. The Hellhounds similarly can run interference on a flank and support and advance or hang back and counter enemy movements.

The Vanquisher should priorities Tanks and MCs, while the Exterminator should focus on light transports and models with 4+ saves or worse. The Vendetta is primarily for anti-flier and then anti-tank duties. Marbo should target something big and demo it into oblivion.

Hope that helps. It's not Ultra-competitive, but should easily hold its own against most enemies.

With the Vanquisher, just remember target priority. Go for heavy armour first, then MCs, then TEQ, then MEQ, then everything else. Don't bother shooting it at light vehicles unless you have no other options, as the Exterminator, Vendetta and the Chimeras can easily handle AV11 and 12.

Let us know how it goes.

What are the primary armies you typically face? You might as well start delving into the meta game. If you face a lot of MEQ armies I would recommend a Leman Russ Executioner or 3.

Cowards will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!

More Vendettas. Because screw everything.

Personally I actually like the Ratlings, to take down MCs quickly.

Beat me to it. Exactly this.

To the OP, I'd just wait until the new codex. Everything is pointing to it being earlier than later, and hopefully March. From there I'd build a shopping list once we see what we got and what units changed.
