Hi Guys,

I've just received a belated christmas present from a friend, which turned out to be a bit of a surprise - his whole eldar army. I was wondering whether anyone here could help me put together a semi competitive list from the pieces. I believe he got rid of it as it wasn't performing how he wanted it to.

Contents:
2 x Night Spinner
1 x Fire Prism
3 x Falcons
3 x war walkers
1 x Wave Serpent
2 x Wraith Lords
3 x D-Cannon Support Weapons
4 x Dark Reapers + Exarch
55 x Guardians plus support weapons
10 x Warlocks / Farseers (not sure which are witch, but mostly warlocks)
10 x rangers
15 Harlequins
Avatar (metal)
28 Dire Avengers
13 Wraithguard
10 windrider jetbikes
7 striking scorpians + Lord Karandas
9 Warp spiders + Exarch
Illic Longspear

I have of course read a few bits and pieces about the eldar army before asking, but am still a little unsure of what makes certain units great, such as the waveserpent - is it great because it can use it's shield, or fire it as a long range heavy weapon, or cost and transport capacity vs Falcons.

We normally play 2000 points up to 3000 using a mixture of standard force organisation and apocalypse formations. As these are larger battles, we are no strangers to AV14, Gargantuan Creatures, and other Lords of War. We usually have fluffy battles, so should not be required to face other Eldar, and no one in our gaming group collects Tau at this time. Very tempted to keep Illic Longspear due to recurring Necron Imotekh Stormlord woes, who is invariably hiding somewhere bringing his lightning storm down upon us and stealing initiative.

I have a varied crew of Dark Eldar to ally with, but got rid of my Tau just before they got good.

So what would you keep, what would you get rid of and what would you replace things with and why?

Dark Eldar, Tau, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, Tyranids and a tiny amount of Space Wolves

You can make a really competitive list with that. Cut down the4 falcons weapons though to make them into waveserpnts or just proxy them.

1500 points.

And there you go. 4 of the nastiest tanks in the game, 10 wraith guard for anti av 13-14 duty and anti mcs, warp spdiers to cause choas behind enemy lines, a mantle sear to boost everything, and a spirit sear to make wraithguard troops.

Also did you by any chance get any war walkers? because if you do its quite easy to bring the list up to higher point values

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And and waveserpnts are so great because with scatter lasers and shuiken cannon you are putting out 7 strength 6 twin linked shots, and with the wave serpents sheild an additional d6+1 (on average 4.5) shots that are also tl and ignroes cover. Comine this together and thats one nasty tank. Then add 3 mroe of them

Actually yes, there were three war walkers, although one's missing any weapon selection but that could be picked up from ebay I'm sure. Added to the original list.

This is a good list, but you absolutely need twin-linked Scatter Lasers on the Wave Serpents to make your list effective. Scatter Lasers drastically improve the damage output of the transport, and also make it a viable anti-air unit thanks to the twin-linking of the shield. I would trade out the Holo-Fields to pay for this.

EDIT: I guess the Wave Serpents already have Scatter Lasers as their main armament, and Shuriken Cannons as the secondary. Not sure why ninjafiredragon would write out one weapon and abbreviate the other, but whatever. It's not like Seer, Wraithguard, Wave Serpent, Shuriken, or Fields were spelled correctly anyway . The guy can't spell but he can write a good Eldar list.

EDIT2: War Walkers would be a great addition for higher point games, as mentioned.

EDIT3: Fire Prisms are another good choice for higher point games, as they give you versatility and a lance weapon. I normally take 2-3 in my Mechdar list at 1,750.
