It seems that a load of Platoons have been leaving Cornwall over the past week or so - much to the relief of the backers, and of course Gav I am sure.
I worked out that over 712 Platoons had been pledged for during the kickstarter and undoubtedly many afterwards with add-on orders (looks up to the sky whistling ). Gav had started sending out the November deliveries when his spin caster decided it was going on strike, and this had already been preceeded by family illness. Anyway Gav in the end put his hand in his pocket and outsourced a load of the production. (Thank you Ainsty for stepping up to help out).
Well the latest news is that literally Gav has re-jigged the whole manufacturing plan so as he can complete by the SALUTE show (12th April) which is a main 'pick-up' point for those who went with that option. Baker Company will be sharing the stand of 'Warm Acre' at SALUTE - another of Gav's companies.
Just out of interest I worked out the other day that the 'Winter War' range must involve somewhere between 250 - 300 new figure sculpts, that is an almighty range, that is without the vehicles, weapons, sledges, bikes, horses, and even a reindeer!
Anyway, I have received some of my figures and it is back to painting them.
(I started this as a new thread as the old thread was over 3 months old and I got a warning pop-up when I tried to post on that thread suggesting I start a new one. )

Good News
I'm down to pick up at Salute - just have to get my paint queue cleared of other Kickstarter stuff by then and make sure I have enough 2p pieces to base them all on, then it's months of blue grey>light blue grey> white on the ends of my brushes for me
Then I have to look at finding some local opponents and a decent WW2 rule set lol

You bring up a quandry for me, at the moment I am basing mine on 1p pieces (20mm) rather than 2p pieces (25mm) - I guess it just shows I am a 'tightwad' at heart (blame a scottish catholic father and an english jewish mother ). I have considerable amount coming (literally thousands) but besides that whichever I decided to base mine on would end up wrong for some people.

Latest news from Gav in update #43 ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1030835091/winter-war-wargaming-miniatures/posts/730342 ) on the kickstarter is:
"Salute 2014
A few people have been asking if we are going to Salute this year... Sorry I thought I had already said this, but yes we will be there, but with Warm Acre (my other company) as I booked it before I owned the company! We will have miniatures to pick up at the show as well as (I'm hoping) the full range available for other people to buy on the day! I'm hoping for a demo game too, if any one can help demo the game, please let me know as we won't have enough of us to do this ourselves..."
So anyone who has arranged to pick up at the SALUTE show should be prepared to carry a lot of goodies home with them - oh, and have a full wallet / purse so as to buy those extra figures you didn't think of getting during the kickstarter.
Also I was talking to Gav yesterday on the phone just after he had sent a load more parcels from his local Post Office, so yet more goodies in the delivery system of the Royal Mail.

I know it's sad, but I quite like basing and I think 1p's would be just a tad too small to have fun with Silflor tufts and mini-snow drifts etc. Plus all my other historical stuff is on 2p's and the OCD part of me just wouldn't like it

How are you liking the ones you've gotten? Got any pics of them?
I won't be getting mine until the very end. I opted for the "when it's done" option so I'll probably be getting a huge box full of Finns and Russians sometime in April.

Hi Moustaffa, No pictures at the moment, literally carpet and floorboards up around the house and furniture jumbled together, we are having new central heating installed, but will put some up tomorrow perhaps but more than likely on Friday.
I like the figures, of course they are not as detailed as say a Perry's French Napoleonic line infantry figure - I mean how much detail can you get into a great coat or snow camo jacket, but they are nicely cast and there is only the minutist amount of flash on the very occassional figure. So far the major problem I have encountered when cleaning the figures up has been that a few of the bayonets have not properly cast on the figures, say about 2-3% of the Russians (I have simply snipped off any bayonet piece and made them rifles without bayonets on). The next problem numerically is of course where the end of a rifle barrel or smg has broken off, about 1% of the figures (this last problem may be 30% my fault when I was preping the figures).
There are a few figures where the right arm comes seperate from the main body of the figure (it is attached to the figure base), these are section leaders and the arm is moulded so as when it is glued in place it is in a bowling position with the hand raised above the head and obviously indicating the order to move forward. The join of the arm fits nicely onto the body but I chose to use some green stuff so as to bulk the shoulder out a little and of course cover the join 100%. (I might modify the position of the arm on some of these figures just to give some variety, that will obviously entail a bit of snipping and again the use of some greenstuff.)
Overall so far I am absolutely satisfied, and Gav would have heard if I wasn't - but then again so would everyone else!
I took a gamble on the kickstarter, after of course checking Gav and Baker Company out, and I am glad to say my gamble has been justified. Now what my postman will think over the coming 10 weeks is another matter.
I will put up some photos up on Friday at the latest when I can get back to the figures safely (safely for the figures that is) and find my camera which I know is in a draw in the desk in the workroom, the desk though at the moment is under and behind boxes of toys, books, dismantled beds, chairs, a wardrobe, and two carpets!

Glad to hear the positive report. I went in pretty big on this Kickstarter and I've been anxiously awaiting my little guys. Have you seen any of the vehicles or the special units?

Same here, I spent way more than I usually do on a kickstarter but that was mainly due to the incredible deal and the fact that the guy seemed pretty legit.
Other than the Dreamforge one I really haven't backed kickstarters much. It takes either a really good deal or a really unique product (or both) to get me in on a kickstarter.
Good to hear you're liking these though. I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of these models "in the wild" and seeing how they paint up so I can get an idea of what I'm in for.

@ Phobos & @ MrMoustaffa - Unfortunately I haven't received any tanks, etc. yet so it is just the photos on kickstarter updates that I have seen. I know the tank production was one of the things Gav was working towards doubling by having more moulds supplied. If this happens then the tanks should be produced in no time.
The 'good news' is that hopefully within the week Gav should have the new control panel for his spin caster which will allow production of figures to basically be doubled as well (figures then being produced by both Gav and Ainsty).
Yes I went into this heavier than the other kickstarters because of the subject and the rewards offered to backers by Gav. (Hmmmm, actually ended up at 28 platoons ........... of each, plus a load of add ons. )
I will get some photos up tomorrow so that everyone can see more of what they have coming.

I received my basic Finnish platoon last week. These are my first metal WWII metal miniatures and I'm not disappointed. I am looking forward to when the stretch goals arrive.
This project was my second of three Kickstarters so far and I jumped in during the final two hours when I rolled a double six for Consumer Resistance.
