Ok, this one is somewhat non-mechanical in nature.

Local shop is running a team event. From what I gather, each member of a two-person team brings a 500pt army (consisting of primary detachment only). Right below that it says "Each Team may have a combined Sidebar of units consisting of a maximum of 250 points. You cannot use points from your teammates standard points allowed (i.e. no borrowing points)."

...yeah, I'm dumb -- what is the sidebar being referenced here? Is this a 250pt extra "buffer" of troops from both sides, or some like half n' half split (where you run both "armies" combined 50/50 each)?

Yeah, it's a concept borrowed from card games. You have a pool of extra units that you can swap in from game to game, depending on the mission or the table you're playing on next.

You would need to check with the TO for full details on how it's working though, as it's not part of the normal game.

OOOOHHhhh..... so like, I build a list that is flamer heavy for mobs, and one for heavy anti-tank. Both will have some elements that overlap, so I can just pick which 'version' of my 500pt army I want to run? As long as it's locked into my list of benchwarmers, I can swap in and out as needed?

I'll ping the organizer for clarification. It's touted as noob friendly (which the environment very much so is) but I had no idea how to go about building a list LOL

It's more commonly known as a sideboard in tabletop wargames.

I've been considering pushing this idea at my flgs. Seems like it would add an extra strategic dimension to the game. Let us know how it works out
