Hello fellow Dakkadakkaians. Realizing that I do not have the funds required to construct the 2nd half of my Elysian Drop troops from Forgeworld I have decided to flex my creativity muscles and run a "Spec Ops" style army of Elysians based around the fluff of the ODST's from the HALO franchise. Much like Navy Seals who fight with the US Army and other branches of the military the story behind these guys would be very similar. Idea is this:

-Will be run out of Codex Space Marines (or one of their supplements, am considering the Sentinels of Terra Book).
-Elysia is a very rich world thanks to trade which means with their power, money and influence they have access to better equipment then other IG Regiments. Thus explanation for the 3+ armor save rule wise (Ceramite plates underneath or over their Carapace Armor), unique special weapons, Drop Pods and their BS4. Will be modeling their Bolters as a stripped down version of them so realistically a regular human could wield them.
-The ODST's (not original title I know so if you guys can think of one let me know!) are handpicked from the top men of the Airborne, Air Assault and Storm Trooper regiments the Elysians have at their disposal.
-Their Mission, Spearhead an assault by the Elysians onto a planet or conduct raids, assaults and covert missions behind enemy lines.
-Will have access to "Marauder Suits" (inspiration from Starship Troopers) that will be basically stripped down versions of the Centurion Devastators, however I am leaning towards a "pure pod" list so we will see.

Now the look I will be going for will be this: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=46943.15 however I will be using actual bolters for the weapons to keep the model looking WYSIWYG so people cannot complain. Also for anyone who has beef with the fact it does not look like "power armor" my ENTIRE army will be modeled this way who have power armor so there will be no confusion. That and if anyone has an issue, guess what it is a GW model and using GW rules! . Now for the questions I am hoping to have answered:

-What do you guys think of the idea? And anything to make it better or potentially change up?
-Which Chapter Tactic or Supplement would be the best way to run this list? I want it to be competitive but also to fit the fluff of an "Elysian Spec Ops" unit.
-Conversion Ideas for different units, vehicles ect.

Thanks for your feedback!

I guess you could more or less pick the rules from SM codex and use them as is for your Elysians, more or less just use their models instead of SM if that is what you are after. Check out the Raven Guards of the SM, might be what you are after.

Chaos: 6000pts
Death Korps of Krieg: 2500pts

You know, instead of Elysians as a base for these guys, why not look at the Harakoni Warhawks?

I myself made a small squad of ODSTs using the elysian snipers. For the visored helmets I'd recommend the pig iron system trooper heads. Just there's quite a bit of work sculpting the armour if you want to make them exactly like ODSTs.

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.

School's and Job's servers haven't been liking pictures recently. Sure they look nice though.

So basically you want to do a Space Marine army, except you don't want to call them Marines, you want to call them Elysian ODST troopers or something... did I get that right?

To be frank, I am not really fond about the idea of proxying light drop troops as giant superhumans with tank armour.
It might work if you could convert them into a more heavily armoured look.
I also find it hard to justify fluffwise, you might want to work on that.

But in the end, they are your guys, so if you want it, go for it.
Elysians sure are expansive though, I am just getting started on my own Elysian army and it is really a long-term project :(

Again im not using the actual Elysian models, but Space Marine Scouts with Pig Iron heads to represent the extra armor and bolters to be, well bolters

I think that a full army of that would be pretty awesome! Only problem I see is there is going to be a ton of sculpting you will have to do to get them to look like that. They will look solid when finished though!
