Rural area hospital served an area that had a very large Native American population, so quite a few of their patients were of course Native American. One day, almost all of them just stopped coming to the hospital. People started to notice that they didn't have near as many Native American patients this month than they previously had. The hospital also had a problem with pigeons. So they decided to try a humane way to get rid of the pigeons. So they decided to place a large number of owl statues on the edge of the roof all over the hospital. You couldn't get anywhere near that building without staring at an owl...
Another story:
Worked in a nursing home. Had a patient that was in a persistent vegitative state. Patient was a Native American male with very long hair. It was a pain in the rear to deal with. A couple of our nursing aids decided that it would be easier to deal with if they just cut it. Which they did. Without talking to anybody about it first....
Wow. I imagine that didn't go over well.
I was a substitute teacher out on the Ute Reservation for a while and focused on Native American history in college. It doesn't take a lot or research to figure out that's a big no-no.
