Hi all
just because i become addicted to the game so far, i'm thinking about buying some tau to use as ally for my BA army (and also to paint something a little different than red marines -_- )
i choose tau because i like the miniatures and also they can fulfill a role i miss: overwhelming shooting support

i know in the future i will have a big army of tau so i could create a second army and choose wich one using, many friend of mine have 2-3 even 4 different armies; but at the moment i will keep on the minimal possible, some miniature i can borrow from a friend, and maybe some little proxy (1).
So... what's the minimal allied detachment of tau a BA can use effectively?

as for now i'm playing a lot of JAS and one little mecha support, but i'm planning on going mecha assault in the next matches

(1) i got a couple of varitech revoltech i can use for something... they are 4.5" high, 1" more with stand
i got also a 3" zaku but this is little more a childish toy with very limited articulation...

The Tau detachment I sometimes use with my dark angels is...

Cadre fireblade - 60

12 fire warriors - 108

riptide w/ ewo, ion accelerator - 190

adl w/ quad gun - 100

fireblade mans the quad gun and sits there with the firewarriors, the riptides a riptide haha

You need to ask yourself what you need to compliment your BA army. Do you need AA? Do you need support? Do you lack powerful shooting? etc.

Commander with markers, rapetide, broadsides, kroot. Typical tau allie forces.

i think i could ally with tau for massive shooting so i can keep using BA for jump assault, bike assault or razorspam assault...
