The title says it all. I've read through the February releases on bols and faeit and didn't see anything. Are we to wait over a month for the next slate?

Based on the three main stages of a Tyranid invasion, I expect that the next one will be a swarm-heavy one, something like the following:
- A Warrior-based formation with a Prime that doesn't take up an HQ slot
- A Warrior-based formation with alternate deployment rules (Outflank?)
- Termagant/Hormagaunt swarms (some sort of Without Number return?)
- Some sort of Mycetic Spore representation (maybe not a full on model, but rather simply the rules for Deep Striking?)
The last one will be the heavy assault dataslate, and that will be where we find the Carnifex formations and so on.

But if last one is fast then making new warrior models for a new codex wouldn't have made any sense .

I can't find it now. It would have been faeit or bols. Invasion, big bugs, flyers. I remember because I was excited big bugs weren't last but now I can't verify.

You're right. I don't want another dataslate. I'd rather have another codex instead. How often has GW replaced a botched/poor dex with another one in short order (if it has ever done it)?

It's an add on, with specific formations (think death leaper plus five lictors, broods of gene stealers, etc. You have to field what it states) that do not take up FOC slots. For example tau have one with a riptide and two broadsides in it.

So its kind of extra army lists?
So let me get this straight GW charges for the rules, then the codex then the data slate (Which could be included in the codex) is another charge again?

Yeah, so basically you get a half codex for full price - then continue to pay for the rest of your codex periodically... as a more "pro- GW" leaning person I do find this annoying. However - when meta's change and other codex 'creep' up in power it could be a nice way to spice up an older codex.

I love these threads / posts
5E Tyranids codex sucked but I am holding out hopes for the 6E codex in a few weeks
6E codex sucks but I'm holding out hope for the dataslate
The dataslate sucked so I'm holding out hope for the second dataslate
Call it an outlandish assumption, but I'm just going to make prediction that the second dataslate is going to suck as well, at which point people will hold out hope for the third one.
No prizes for guessing the quality of the third one ahead of time either.

Hmm I thought the dataslate was quite good... and I enjoy the codex as well.
But in typical GW fashion some of the dataslate formations require you to have a ridiculous amount of models($$). Why would anyone have 5+ lictors?!?
Fortunately I have plenty of genestealers and those formations are pretty cool. -- unfortunately I had to pay another $15 to get/use them.

DLC was announced before the book was released, and came out a few weeks after. It's just a way to make more money, and annoy more customers and lose more customers and make less money, thus needing more stupid schemes in future to make more quick grabs for money. This business is not focused on longevity AT ALL right now. Unless the seriously fix some issues, the end of GW is near there is just no way around it.

Yeah these dataslates do feel like a money grab for sure - but can we please not turn this into another crybaby fest about the codex; there are enough of those in this forum.

Well I didn't post anything about the codex being bad, only people's reactions to recent tyranid releases, and everything else in thread seems very relevant to the dataslate releases. Making comments like that is the quickest way to turn a thread into an angry codex debate

When your softest units die, does your army eat itself? Do your troops explode and kill everything around them? Do you have 2+ saves? Do you have access to brb psychic powers? Do your only good units share the same FOC slot? I play nids because they are hard mode, so I enjoy it. But people such as Recius from Frontline and all his challengers have been working day in and out to make nids viable. Not to get off topic here, but regarding the Recius Frontline challenge...
I honestly think it will yield some interesting results, however Recius is a hardcore veteran power-gamer that would be real challenging to beat with any codex - let alone one that is just a month old.
I feel like his actual intent was just to prove his point that, 'this codex sucks'. Anyway - like I said, it should be an interesting exercise.
As for the dataslates... the rumored Carnifex as troops would be interesting, but I am mostly interested in numbers - tons and tons and tons of gaunts/stealers (think Starship troopers!); that's what I'd like to see most.

And to answer your questions, actually, yes, my army kills itself. Yes my troops explode and threaten my other most viable troop choice. No I don't have +2 saves, no I don't have BRB rule powers, and yes all my best units are also bunched up in the Heavy Support slot. Do you know why ? Because I too am a nid player. Check some of my past posts, or possibly my quote, I have been pretty vocally against the gak they gave us and labelled a codex release, since before it was even released. My post was a skeptical look at GW's intentions to release further dataslates and how its pretty clear GW has decided on the power level they want for most the nid book - forgive me for being skeptical that they are planning on giving us anything good in the next two dataslates.

feth me, I think its bad enough that army lists are not included in the main rule book. Gw could squeeze blood from a stone.
I can see the argumnet that they could be used to spice up or balance an older codex but in that instance surely they should be free.

Sadness and despair.....
What I hope we get however is...
* some way to make up for the incredible nerf to scything talons. Synapse I can manage, but that nerf....that hurt, a lot.
* some way to get eternal warrior or invul saves on MC's. The new wave of force weapons and psy grenades out there with the inq codex is getting painful.
* something to help with grounding tests. please. Yes, flying mc's have advantages...but getting shot down a thrid of the time is brutal.
* something to increase shadow range - make the silly crown relic useful.
Here is hoping...

@SHUPPET I think imnewherewheresthebathroom was trying to quote Dalymiddlebro about his snide comment on how the 3rd best codex in the game hasn't got any dataslates but the "super dooper op" Nids have. It makes sense if that was the case. If not then he is completely off his face.
