Having finished my Chaos Space Marine army for now I thought I would branch out and try a new army. I like the look of the Ork models especially the killa kanz so I thought I would try and make an ork list.
I am a total newbie with Orks though so please let me know if I am missing something .Let me know if the list is good or if it needs some tweaks/improvement.

11 Ork Boyz including Nob with Power Klaw in a Trukk - 136pts

12 Ork Boyz including Nob with Power Klaw in a Trukk - 142pts

I'll start by asking this, competitive or fun? And what kind of play style do you want?

im all about Trukk Boyz at the moment so top choice there!

id say the killa kana might be a little redundant as the rest of your army is pretty speedy apart from lootaz who don't go anywhere anyway. (i think the grotzookas are quite short range no?)

Maybe bikes instead? i know they arnt that great are they but with a new codex likely in the next six months its all up in the air anyway really. Or if you want fun just take a mek with a SAG to support alongside your lootaz

Nob bikers are great! I crush with them, add more lootas and a sag if you want more shooting. Cut the fighter ace upgrade imo

@zammerak Mainly fun but I'd still like a reasonable chance against my friend's tough(ish) necron list. And charging straight at them would be the sort of thing I am looking for in terms of playing-style.

If you want to be crumping fast use the trukks and maybe bikes. Dakka jets are very shooty so put in a second one if you can, I run 2 in my 1500 list and I am very happy with the results. Im guessing ur limit is 1k pts?

If its the kana you like best id get two units or max out at 9 even

With orks i figure you want everything to basically arrive at the same time - so your enemy can't just kill the small waves as they come (apart from units like lootaz who just sit back and lay down the dakka)

If you go down a killa kan route most people will recumbent a KFF mek and many just footslog your troops?

@zammerak 1kpts is the limit atm yes, but i'll look to getting a second dakka jet in the future when I up the points

I'm actually liking the idea of getting a shokka attack gun and more lootas, it could be fun.

It would mean dropping the killa kans but I do really like the idea of Boyz in Trukks so it's a tough call but i'll be alright with dropping them.

When I get on my desktop (on phone now) ill send you my list and some thoughts on what you can do to be fast, and hit hard. But the list is worth trying as is. Can you proxy to test or is that frowned uppon?

@zammerak That would be great I can proxy a bit as long as models are roughly the same dimensions and things don't get too bizarre. I might be able to give it a try.

I would recommend taking more Lootas (if you have the models); take 10 of them, so you get 10-30 shots, and you can still GTG if needed. The SAG is fun, but unreliable and a tad expensive for a 1000pts game. Personally I take a Big Mek + KFF; this will give all of your a Trukks 5+ save as you roll up the board.

Seems like you've gone for a fun speed freak list, i'd suggest skipping the kans and go for more lootas or another dakkajet.

ALSO the warboss badly need a bosspole... so he can be bossy and sush.

This is actually and amazing list but you will want to cut down one squad of boys to allow the warboss to go into a truck.... I would also give the warboss mega-armour which incorparates a TL shoota and a PK for just 105 points total. The Killa Kans are amazing and so a the lootas.... the dakkajet is great and i love shoota boys. This is a very versatile list and i would change little.

Excellent first list, I like it. Should do you pretty well, as been discussed already the only thing out of place are the kans, like they said replace them with either more lootas (always a good option) or another Dakkajet, because two at 1000 pts would be a pain to deal with. Also putting your warboss in mega armor makes him one tough mother, very brutal. Good luck!

Only one problem with that is the point cost i'm afraid.

Take a boy or two out of the trukks 136 *6 +lootas and you have 105 points to make a boss.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I am pretty set on a list now though.

I have dropped the Killa Kanz and have taken 5 more lootas and a Big Mek with a shokk attack gun, however I'm also going to pick up a Big Mek with a kustom force field and will try him out as well.

What are you doing Melee is a joke now, thats why its listed in the BRB on page 101 as in lol, because your trying to assault in 6th ed . Take 45 Lootas as they are the only unit in the codex worth there points & thats only if the roll high on the D3. Use Allies as there the next best unit in the Codex. You have a Chaos army so use a Hell Turkey.
